Why community-building is key to creator success today
Instagram is exhausting,” says the spoken word artist from Mumbai, who has half a million followers on the social media app. “Skip posting a Reel for three days, and you are forgotten. Channels have reduced my fear of losing followers,” she adds. Sangtani, 24, runs three channels catering to women with 5,000-15,000 members, each focused on different topics: motivation, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) support and finding love. In February 2023, Instagram introduced broadcast channels to let creators send audio-visual content and textual updates as messages to followers who choose to join those channels. Instead of battling the algorithm or getting lost in the feed simply due to the surfeit of content, channels make sure a creator’s core audience sees their posts directly in their messages tab.

What does Kemi Badenoch replacing Rishi Sunak as new Conservative Party chief mean for India
Kemi Badenoch on Saturday became the first Black woman to lead Britain's Conservative Party as she succeeded Rishi Sunak in the House of Commons as the Leader of Opposition. The 44-year-old Nigerian-heritage parliamentarian defeated former Cabinet minister Robert Jenrick after a three-month-long leadership election following Sunak's resignation after the Tories suffered a bruising general election defeat on July 4. The shadow secretary of state for Housing, Communities and Local Government began by thanking her predecessor – who was the first British Indian leader of the party. «I want to thank Rishi, no one could have worked harder in such difficult times. Rishi, thank you for everything you did. We all wish you and your wonderful family the very best for the future,» said Badenoch in her acceptance speech.
