Critics have labeled the act as «performative activism», expressing concerns that it could exacerbate the difficulties faced by the LGBT community in Malaysia. Homosexuality remains criminalized in the country, with potential penalties of up to 20 years in prison. During the music festival in Kuala Lumpur last Friday, the lead singer of the indie-rock band «The 1975», Matty Healy, took the stage and launched into a profanity-laden tirade against Malaysia's anti-LGBT laws. In an act of protest, he also kissed his male bandmate. Throughout the performance, Healy appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and reportedly vandalized a drone owned by the concert organizers. Attendees even claimed that he spat on some fans. His defiant behavior continued as he swaggered across the stage and insulted the Malaysian government. The band's set was eventually shut down shortly after the incident. However well-intentioned, locals argue that his actions have disrupted an already delicate political environment for LGBT Malaysians, leading to further harm and damage. «The 1975» cancelled a concert in Indonesia Sunday, after Malaysia axed a festival over a same-sex kiss and tirade against the country's anti-LGBTQ laws by their frontman. Indonesia's LGBTQ laws are less strict than those in neighbouring countries such as Malaysia, where homosexuality is a crime. But several events have been cancelled in recent years.

NEW DELHI : Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is planning to simplify the delisting process for listed companies. Addressing a press conference on Monday, Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said the move was important since any participant entering the listed markets should be able to exit it. The regulator is also looking at reviewing the insider trading rules pertaining to ‘trading plans’ to be disclosed by company insiders.

Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA) in a statement said that several industry players have taken environment-friendly measures to reduce their carbon and water footprint. The players have deployed modern technology solutions and captive power generation to achieve water and energy efficiency, it said in a statement.

During his Friday night performance, Johnson took a stand in support of fellow country artist Aldean amidst the controversy over the song, «Try That in a Small Town». Graham Allen, host of the Dear America podcast, captured and posted a video of Cody Johnson voicing his support for Aldean during the show at St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena. Johnson addressed the criticism Aldean received for releasing the song, saying, «If you're videoing this, and Jason Aldean if you're seeing this video, you keep it up, brother. You do you, boo boo.» Johnson went on to interpret the song as a patriotic one, asserting, «If being patriotic makes you an outlaw, then by God, I'll be an outlaw.» Several artists, including Travis Tritt, John Rich and Lee Greenwood, have defended Aldean, while others, such as Jason Isbell, Adeem the Artist, Margo Price and Sheryl Crow have criticized both the song and Aldean. The controversy began when Aldean released «Try That in a Small Town» in May and performed it during his set at CMA Fest in June. The song and its video drew swift criticism on social media, with commenters calling it racist and pro-gun. CMT subsequently removed the video from rotation, sparking mixed reactions.

International Friendship Day is celebrated across the world on July 30 every year. It is marked as a day for forging friendship between different communities and sinks their differences so that we live in a better world. United Nations General Assembly designed it. U.N.’s motive was to encourage organizations, social groups, communities, and governments to coordinate and organize events for celebrating friendship. Most of these events are marked to increase reconciliation, understanding, and cooperation. The basic concept behind International Friendship Day is to unite the people and convince them that people should not be separated on the basis of caste, creed, religion, ethnicity, race, language, political beliefs, or philosophy. Common grounds can be found despite all kinds of differences. Friendship Day can be celebrated by as simple things as a coffee hangout, concert, small party, going to malls, or simply sitting and eating with friends. These simple things underline the need of uniting people across the spectrum. An international civil organization World Friendship Crusade was the first to propose International Friendship Day in 1958. In India, it is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of August. In Spain, it is July 20, In Bolivia, it is July 23 and in Finland, it is February 14.

India's coal production increased by 8.55 per cent to 223.36 million tonnes in the April-June quarter of 2023-24 compared to the year-ago period, an official statement said on Friday. Coal production was 205.76 million tonnes (MT) in the same period during FY 2022-23, the Ministry of Coal said.Coal India Limited (CIL) registered 175.48 MT production between April and June 2023, marking a commendable growth rate of 9.85 per cent in comparison to 159.75 MT during the corresponding period of the previous year.
