Ray Dalio flags US-China ‘Economic Warfare’ among top global risks
Ray Dalio said internal conflicts will be the “highlight of this year,” particularly on the issue of whether the US election result will be accepted by both parties. The policies from an administration run by Donald Trump would be very different from a Democratic one, Dalio said during a video speech at the Greenwich Economic Forum in Hong Kong Wednesday. However, on anti-China policies, there’s broad agreement between the two parties.

Urge all stakeholders to stand against threats to press freedom: Subhash Chandra
Media is considered as the fourth pillar of democracy, but faces increasing pressure from the governing class- whether it’s legislature, executive, and even the corporates, said Subhash Chandra, chairman emeritus of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited in a press briefing Monday. Highlighting a recent incident which led to a legal tussle between the AAP government in Punjab and Zee, Chandra said he would urge all stakeholders, including Zee's viewers and regulatory bodies, to recognize and stand against the 'threats' to press freedom. «I and my team are ready to pay a price or face any consequences, to keep fulfilling our Dharma towards our readers and viewers,» Chandra said.

Effective steps to repay your personal loan
—Name withheld on requestPersonal and credit card loans are the worst financial mistakes that one can undertake, especially if the loan is used for buying depreciating assets or on discerning expenses like holidays and/or luxury goods. At the age of 29, it is imperative that you ensure that your monthly income leads to some financial savings that help in liquidity management and avoid paying hefty interest expenses. As a thumb rule, we recommend at least 20% savings in financial instruments and not more than 50% of equated monthly instalments (EMIs).At an income of ₹59,000 and a personal loan of ₹3.6 lakh, my suggestions would be as follows:1) I would strongly recommend that you start setting aside at least ₹4,000 a month, and if possible more, for repaying the personal loan.2) If you have any large non-equity investments like bonds or fixed deposits, it is wise to immediately sell those and pay off the loan as the returns from non-equity investments would surely be much lower.3) Additional inflows and bonuses should go towards paying off the loan as most investment investments like equities generate volatile returns and pre-tax, while this is a certain and a post-tax outflow.

Last date for filing income tax return (ITR)
tax returns (ITRs) every financial year to inform the government of the income earned by them and the tax they have paid on this income. While taxpayers have to file their tax returns within a deadline to avoid paying a penalty and to avoid losing certain income tax benefits, the last date or the due date for filing ITR varies depending on the category of the taxpayer. For instance, salaried individuals and other taxpayers whose accounts are not required to be audited must file ITRs by July 31. Similarly, taxpayers whose books of accounts are required to be audited (but transfer pricing not applicable) must file their ITR by October 31.

At 5.6% of GDP, FY24 fiscal gap beats target
fiscal deficit at 5.6% of gross domestic product (GDP) in FY24, beating revised estimate of 5.8% on the back of improved resource mop-up and curtailed revenue expenditure, putting it on track to adhere to the glide path. In absolute terms, the FY24 fiscal deficit stood at ?16.54 lakh crore, down from the revised estimate of Rs 17.35 lakh crore and FY23 level of Rs 17.38 lakh crore, showed the official data released on Friday. A lower-than-anticipated deficit in FY24 and a generous surplus transfer by RBI earlier this month make the government's goal of reining in fiscal gap at 5.1% of GDP in FY25 seem more realistic now, experts said. Total Receipts Hit Rs 27.89 Lakh cr
