Global worker migration patterns will inevitably shift
The global labour market is in the midst of a gradual but significant transformation. Driven by a dramatic collapse in birth rates, impeded globalization, changes in the capital intensity of growth, a preference shift towards fewer work hours, initial use cases of artificial intelligence (AI) and societal angst over immigration, labour market dislocations have already begun and are only about to go further out-of-whack with time. The manifestations and initial responses are different, country by country, but the meta phenomenon is a major upheaval in labour markets that will necessitate responses.

Escalating temperature in Antarctica sparks global concern for climate change
global temperatures have raised significant concerns, with scientists at the Concordia research station on the eastern edge of the Antarctic plateau documenting a remarkable phenomenon. On March 18, 2022, they recorded the highest temperature ever observed at the meteorological center; 38.5 degrees Celsius, well above the seasonal average. This alarming temperature surge in one of the coldest regions on Earth has left researchers deeply troubled, fearing potential catastrophes. Professor Michael Meredith, head of the British Antarctic Survey, described the event as «simply mind-boggling,» emphasising the potential deadly consequences if such a temperature rise were to occur in the UK.

"India knows how to protect its citizens, borders": Yogi Adityanath invokes The Guardian report again in Rajasthan rally
Yogi Adityanath on Sunday the country was capable and equipped to deal with all internal and external security threats, while ensuring the safety of all citizens. Addressing a rally at Rajasthan's Bharatpur, ahead of the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections, CM Yogi said, «We don't know how credible The Guardian report is, but the new India knows how to protect its citizens and international borders. In 1952, the Congress inflicted a deep wound on the country's heart by extending certain constitutional privileges to (the erstwhile state of) Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah corrected the historic blunder by abrogating Article 370, as it put an end to terrorism in J-K forever.» «Now, no one can shelter terrorists and Naxals in the country without fearing the consequences. The Guardian report has brought to the fore how our external security threats are being neutralised on foreign soil. However, it was the Congress that treated terrorists to biryani when they were in power,» he added.

Chandigarh mayoral poll: Returning officer Anil Masih tenders unconditional apology in SC
Masih, the returning officer for the Chandigarh mayoral election whose result was overturned by the Supreme Court in February, on Friday tendered an unconditional apology to the apex court for his conduct. He had faced the wrath of the Supreme Court which ordered his criminal prosecution for allegedly making a false statement before it and his «misdemeanour» during the counting of votes. Masih said he would withdraw the earlier affidavit which stated that he was reeling under depression and anxiety and wherein he denied allegations of tampering with ballots. «A purported video recording of the election process was leaked online on January 31. Thereafter, the respondent (Masih) was subjected to incessant criticism, name-calling and ad hominems by members of political parties as well as social media. This put the respondent, including his family members, under immense mental trauma and stress,» he had said in the affidavit.

Demat account: How to pledge shares? Here's a step-by-step guide
Investors have the option to leverage their securities held in their demat accounts by pledging them as collateral to obtain a loan. This process, known as pledging, allows borrowers to access funds based on the value of their securities, including shares, debentures, bonds, and mutual fund units. By offering securities as collateral, borrowers can typically secure higher loan amounts at favorable interest rates, as lenders perceive lower risk due to the underlying asset. Moreover, the process of obtaining such loans involves minimal documentation and shorter processing times compared to traditional loan applications.
