New Delhi: India has begun work on a home-built bullet train that will exceed 250 kilometres per hour (kmph), a top government official told ET. The official said it will be faster than any of the trains now running on the Indian Railways. «It is being built on the Vande Bharat platform that can already clock a maximum speed of 220 kmph,» the official said. The designs are being prepared at the Indian Railways' Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.

ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) has withdrawn its application from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) that sought directions to Sony Group Corp-owned Culver Max Entertainment and Bangla Entertainment to implement the composite scheme of arrangement between the three companies. In an official statement issued late on Monday evening, the company said it has withdrawn the implementation application based on the advice received by the board after a detailed consultation with legal experts. Sony and Zee had signed definitive agreements on December 21, 2021 to merge their businesses. ZEEL had filed the application on January 24 after Culver Max and Bangla Entertainment---both India units of Sony Group--terminated the merger agreement on January 22 over an alleged breach of the merger cooperation agreement (MCA), putting an end to the multi-billion-dollar merger deal that had been in the making for more than two years.

NEW DELHI : India has allowed export of 10,000 tonnes of onion to Sri Lanka through the National Cooperatives Exports Cooperative, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification late on Monday. With this, India has approved as much as 79,160 tonnes of onions for export overriding a ban on shipments imposed in December 2023. The government recently approved an additional 10,000 tonnes of onion export to the United Arab Emirates over and above the 24,400 tonnes allowed earlier.

Enforcement Directorate after arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal moved the apex court seeking relief in the ongoing money laundering probe in the excise policy case. SC bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta served ED the notice in his plea challengin the Delhi High Court's decision upholding his arrest in the matter. The ED has been asked to file a reply to Kejriwal's plea by April 24. The plea has been posted for hearing in the week commencing April 29.
