Bangalore remains frontrunner in GCC office leasing, followed by Hyderabad Chennai
Bengaluru: Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India have leased approximately 53 million square feet of office space in key Indian cities between 2022 and the first half of 2024, such as a highly skilled workforce, cost advantages, and favourable business conditions, according to CBRE and Zyoin's latest report. This growth is expected to continue, especially in India's top six metropolitan areas like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai, due to factors which boast exceptional talent pools that are conducive to expansion and future development. In the first half of 2024, office leasing activity in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region across six significant cities increased 8% year-on-year. During the same period, GCCs contributed to around 37% of India's total office leasing activity.

Services PMI: Steep price hikes could take the wind out of companies' sails
Why SBI is comfortably placed despite slow growth in deposits The rising costs of labour and materials were a particular bother for services providers. Within materials, the cost increase was attributed to dearer eggs, meat and vegetables. Lately, both services providers and manufacturers have been hiking prices to pass on their rising input costs to customers.

Why SBI is comfortably placed despite slow growth in deposits
₹3.7 trillion with an available for sale (AFS) portfolio of ₹2.8 trillion, which can be sold to fund the growth in advances if needed. Therefore, the bank does not feel the need to raise deposits through aggressive pricing. Even though the net interest margin (NIM) in percentage terms came down by 12 basis points year-on-year to 3.35%, the lower growth in deposits vis-a-vis advances meant that absolute net interest income rose by 5.7% to ₹41,135 crore.

Sandip Sabharwal on 3 sectors to get into once market correction's over
Sandip Sabharwal, asksandipsabharwal.com, says FMCG, auto, and consumer durable companies are very well-placed because they are at the cusp of demand recovery. The input cost pressures are lower. They do not have pressure to reduce prices at this stage and as we go into the festival season, demand will be strong. So, they are well-placed and those should be the sectors that should be looked at, at the time of corrections. In the consolidation or pause that we have seen in the few odd days in the last fall, pharma has been a lot more resilient, and rightly so. Some of the earnings have managed to impress. Will the pharma recovery also get undone or do you think that is a good hiding space? Sandip Sabharwal: In terms of a defensive sector, pharma is well-placed today. It is an under-owned sector. Companies’ result delivery has been strong relatively, like there have been few companies which have not delivered, but on the whole delivery has been pretty strong.

Zomato: fast delivery, faster investor reward
Zomato Ltd is known for its quick delivery, but investors in its shares seem equally fast or even faster in rewarding the online food delivery company’s financial performance. At least, that’s the impression one gets going by the 12% surge in the stock on Friday reacting to the positive surprises in the June quarter results (Q1FY25). This time around, the strong customer addition of the food delivery segment, which is already profitable at the adjusted Ebitda (excluding Esop) level, is commendable.

There's a China connection to why eSIMs haven't taken off in India
iPhone was stolen in the bustling Chandni Chowk market in Delhi, he smirked and told his friends to remain calm. The police were able to track the device within 30 minutes as it had an embedded SIM (eSIM) which cannot be physically removed from the phone unlike a normal SIM Card. An eSIM can be tracked even when a phone is switched off. In another instance, an oil refinery in Assam was able to fix leakages and prevent accidents within a few seconds as several Internet of Things (IoT) devices with eSIMs sent live alerts to a centralised provisioning system. Virtual SIMs or eSIMs offer several advantages to retail and enterprise phone users. However, the pace of adoption in India has been sluggish so far, mainly due to a Chinese government policy, executives and experts said.

RBI's MPC unlikely to announce a change in repo rate, according to an ET poll
RBI) is likely to keep interest rates unchanged this week as high food prices prevent any tilt toward softer policy, but easing core inflation and a global turn toward lower borrowing costs could make a case for the central bank to shift to a neutral stance in the next quarter that coincides with the country’s traditionally busy economic season. An ET poll consisting of 12 respondents unanimously predicted the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) would keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.50% at the end of its three-day meeting on August 8. This would mark the ninth consecutive bi-monthly meeting in which the rate-setting panel could maintaine a status quo on rates. The repo rate is the rate at which the RBI lends to banks.
