According to a statement, the East Asia Summit would provide an opportunity for leaders of ASEAN countries and its eight dialogue partners, including India, to exchange views on issues of regional and global significance. In August, ASEAN-India Economic Ministers met in Indonesia and the main agenda of this year's meeting was the timely review of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) which was signed in 2009. A joint committee agreed to a regular, quarterly schedule of negotiations, which would conclude the review of the ASEAN-India FTA in 2025. In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Jakarta at the invitation of Indonesian President Widodo.

Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that the opposition coalition INDIA will be holding country-wide programmes on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Without revealing details of the proposed programmes, the leader of the JD(U), a constituent of INDIA, said that a decision in this regard was taken at the just concluded conclave of the opposition alliance in Mumbai. Several experts lauded the successful launch of the mission and its importance for science and humanity. «The mission is India's first foray into space-based studies of the Sun. If it reaches Lagrange point L1 in space, ISRO will join the ranks of NASA and the European Space Agency as the third space agency to station a solar observatory there,» Dibyendu Nandi, head of the Center of Excellence in Space Sciences India at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, said.

ISRO's PSLV-C57.1 rocket carrying the Aditya-L1 spacecraft lifted off from Sriharikota's Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 11:50 am on Saturday. ISRO later revealed that the satellite was placed precisely into the intended orbit and the country's first solar observatory began its journey to the Sun-Earth L1 point.
