Twitter Airlines country UK air travel disruption to last for days: minister
Mark Harper said it would take days to resolve the widespread disruption to flights into and out of the country after air traffic control systems were hit by a technical problem. Hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed on Monday — one of the country's busiest travel days — after air traffic controllers were forced to switch to manual systems. Harper added that government officials did not believe the technical problem was the result of a cyber attack. «There is going to be some knock on impact today and I suspect for another few days as airlines get their planes and get their services back to normal,» Harper told the BBC on Tuesday.Heathrow Airport, Britain's busiest hub, told passengers on X, formerly known as Twitter, to contact their airline before travelling to the airport on Tuesday. UPS MET country voice France's education minister bans long robes in classrooms. They're worn mainly by Muslims
France's education minister announced Monday a ban on long robes in classrooms starting with the new school year, saying the garments worn mainly by Muslims are testing secularism in the nation's schools. Critics say that abayas, worn by women, and Khamis, the male garb, are no more than a fashion statement. They say the garments do not constitute an ostentatious sign of religion and should not be banned from classrooms under a 2004 law. For Gabriel Attal, the recently appointed education chief, the garments are «an infringement on secularism,» a foundational principle for France, and, in some cases, a bid to destabilize schools. The 34-year-old Attal, appointed in July, was potentially moving into a minefield with his ban on long robes to «protect» secularism, prompted by growing reports of the garments in some classrooms around the country. Previous statements and laws on secularism have seeded acrimonious debate. «Our schools are continually tested. We know that,» Attal said at a news conference a week ahead of the start of the school year. He said that the wearing of abayas and khamis had grown recently, and must be met with a firm response to tackle what sometimes amounts to «infringements, attempts at destabilization.»

Canada between April 2022 and March 2023, according to a recent report from The Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) and Canada's Tech Network (CTN). Out of more than 32,000 tech workers, 15,097 came from India, followed by 1,808 from Nigeria, partly due to Canada's immigration-friendly national policy and labor cost advantage, the report said. According to the report, the rise of remote work has resulted in tech talents more frequently moving away from traditional tech hubs. This is partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the report said. The same report said that in 2022, Canada had more than 400,000 software developers in the country and the growth of the national tech workforce has not been limited to the bigger Canadian markets. In fact, smaller provinces like Saskatchewan and Newfoundland and Labrador have experienced the most rapid growth in their tech workforces, with a year-over-year growth of 16.3%. Mississauga, home to nearly 1,000 IT companies with over 300,000 tech professionals, and Montreal, where tech ecosystems have grown around 31 per cent from 2015 to 2020, were among the top Canadian cities to tap the talent.
