Hyderabad police has arrested nine people across the country in connection with an investment fraud of Rs 712 crore by Chinese operators. According to the cyber crime wing of Hyderabad Police, the gang has cheated an estimated 15,000 people to the tune of Rs 712 crore. The fraudsters used to lure gullible investors through fake investment apps and schemes and later laundered money to China via Dubai after converting rupee to crypto, according to the police.

New Delhi: The central government has stepped up exploration and production of critical minerals in the country with number of licences given to find domestic deposits, union minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi said on Monday. In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, the minister said that the government has released a list of 30 critical minerals for India and would focus on exploration and subsequent production of these.

New Delhi: The central government on Monday introduced the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023, and the National Dental Commission Bill, 2023, in Lok Sabha. The National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill aims to set up National Nursing and Midwifery Commission (NNMC), and will repeal the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947, to streamline nursing education in India.

₹5,729 crore from the “Depositor Education and Awareness" (DEA) Fund to facilitate the refund of unclaimed deposits, said Union minister of state for finance, Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad on Monday. The “Depositor Education and Awareness Fund Scheme, 2014", which was issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), outlines regulations pertaining to unclaimed deposits and details the usage of the fund, including its role in promoting depositors‘ interests and supporting specified purposes.

HDFC Asset Management Company reported a 52% jump in profit for the first quarter of FY24 with average assets under management growing to ₹4.86 lakh crore. The company serves a mutual fund customer base of 71 lakh individuals, with a total of 122 lakh live accounts. According to a regulatory filing the asset management firm reported profit after tax at ₹477.5 crore for three months ended June 2023.

Congress on Monday termed as «a desperate bid to manage headlines» Home Minister Amit Shah's assertion that the government was ready for a discussion on Manipur in Parliament. The party said Shah was «totally silent» on the opposition alliance INDIA's demand for a statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. Shah said he was willing to hold discussion in the Lok Sabha on the situation in Manipur and wondered why the opposition was not ready for it. Speaking briefly in the Lok Sabha, he requested opposition leaders to allow debate, saying it was important for truth to come out before the country on the Manipur issue. Reacting to Shah's remarks, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, «In a desperate bid to manage headlines, the Home Minister today said that the Modi government is ready for a discussion on Manipur in Parliament. He is not doing anybody any special favour. »The perfectly democratic and legitimate demand of the parties comprising INDIA is for a statement by the Prime Minister on the Manipur situation FIRST followed by a discussion. HM is totally silent on this. What is the hesitation in getting PM to speak INSIDE Parliament first?" Ramesh said on Twitter.

Sameer Mahendru in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy on medical grounds. While directing Mahendru to surrender before the trial court by 5 PM on September 4, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma made it clear that no further extension of interim bail shall be granted to him on the grounds cited in the instant application. The high court observed that interim bail can never be allowed to be made an «evergreen process».

New Delhi: There is no shortage of coal in the country as of now, with domestic production up during April-June this year, said Union minister of coal, mines, and parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi on Monday. All India coal production for fiscal year 2022-23 stood at 893.19 million tonne (MT), up 14.7% year-on-year (YoY). In the current fiscal till June 2023, production was up 8.51% YoY at 223.36 million tonne.
