Former Twitter board member sues Elon Musk's X for $20 million in pay
board member, Omid Kordestani, sued the social media company owned by Elon Musk on Friday, claiming that the billionaire refused to cash out more than $20 million worth of shares. Kordestani, who joined Twitter's board in 2015 and helped oversee the sale of the company to Musk in 2022, received most of his compensation in stock. But after Musk bought the company, now called X, he refused to pay Kordestani for those shares, the lawsuit said. X «seeks to reap the benefits of Kordestani's seven years of service to Twitter without paying him for it,» said the suit, which was filed in California Superior Court in San Francisco.

In games of power, death by milk and honey
Arthasastra, for instance, frowns on challenges to authority. Anyone who foments revolts, attempts to snatch power, or to instigate disaffection is, it tells us, to be burnt alive “from head to foot". This is for non-Brahmins, though; Brahmins were to be drowned.

No provision for creamy layers in SC/ST quota, says Centre
government on Friday made it clear that it is not going to introduce any provision of creamy layer in the SC and ST reservation, days after the Supreme Court had said that states have the power to sub-classify SC/STs and observed that they can also identify the creamy layer, even from the SC/STs, excluding them from the benefits. The Cabinet held wide discussions on the SC's order, Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters after the meeting today. Today, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, wide discussions were held on this issue, Vaishnaw said. "...the well-thought opinion of the Cabinet is that the NDA government is committed and dedicated towards the provisions of the Constitution prepared by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. And as per the Constitution, there is no provision of creamy layer in SC and ST reservation. Cabinet's well-thought through decision is that the SC and ST reservation should be according to Baba Saheb's Constitution," Vaishnaw said.

Manish Sisodia's bail may boost governance in Delhi if he rejoins Arvind Kejriwal govt: Experts
Delhi government hit by the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to be back on track if his former deputy Manish Sisodia is restored to his previous position even though the process will take time, officers and constitutional experts said on Friday. Sisodia held portfolios of 18 departments including education, finance, excise, health and PWD among others besides being deputy of Kejriwal before his resignation on February 28 last year. The former deputy chief minister would take care of the Delhi government's functioning in absence of Kejriwal when he used to leave for annual sessions of vipassana meditation for a few days. The Supreme Court on Friday granted him bail in excise policy cases lodged by the CBI and ED.

Citizens can't be made to run from pillar to post in matters of life, liberty: SC on Sisodia bail
life and liberty which is one of the most sacrosanct rights guaranteed by the Constitution, the Supreme Court said on Friday. The apex court rejected the preliminary objection raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that AAP leader Manish Sisodia cannot be permitted to file second set of special leave petitions to challenge the Delhi High Court's May 21 verdict which denied him bail in the excise policy cases. While granting bail to Sisodia in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, the top court noted the counsel appearing for probe agencies had argued that he should be relegated to approach the trial court afresh for seeking relief. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan referred to the apex court's June 4 order which had disposed of Sisodia's plea challenging the high court verdict. The top court had then said that Sisodia can revive his bail petitions after the ED and CBI file their final prosecution complaint and charge sheet respectively.
