Electoral bond SC verdict: India will know all info about all donors and receivers, hidden so far, by March 13
Electoral bond: In a landmark judgment delivered on February 15, the Supreme Court unanimously struck down the electoral bonds scheme, holding these bonds «unconstitutional». The State Bank of India, the authorised seller of these poll bonds, was directed by the apex court to provide details of donations made through these bonds, as well as all relevant info on whoever the money went to. Holding political donations by companies as purely for «quid pro quo purposes», the top court ordered that the information of all corporate contributors be made public.

Gujarat police have seized Rs 5,956 crore drugs and arrested 48 foreign nationals involved in drug trafficking during the last two years, the state government informed in the assembly on Wednesday. During a heated debate in the assembly over the issue of drugs, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi asked the opposition Congress to stop doing politics on the matter. The minister also questioned Congress' intention to only mention the Adani Group-run Mundra port in Kutch where central agencies in 2021 seized 3,000 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs 20,000 crore from two containers imported from Afghanistan. During the question hour, Congress MLA Geniben Thakor sought to know if the state government wants to arrest those handling operations at the Mundra port in view of the seizure of large quantities of drugs in 2021.

Ganpat Gaikwad and four accomplices, arrested for an assassination attempt on a Shiv Sena leader within a police station, have been remanded to a 14-day judicial custody by a local court. Besides Gaikwad, Harshal Kene, Sandeep Sarvankar, Divyesh alias Vicky Ganatra, and driver Ranjit Yadav, were presented before the court on Wednesday at the conclusion of their police custody amidst tight security measures surrounding the court premises. The MLA is accused of firing upon Mahesh Gaikwad, the Kalyan unit head of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, inside the room of the senior inspector's office at Hill Line police station in Ulhasnagar earlier this month. The accused face charges of attempted murder and other related offences.
