Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filed a lawsuit against the State Board of Elections in North Carolina seeking to omit his name from the state's ballot ahead of November. Earlier, the elections board rejected Kennedy’s plea to remove his name ballots citing the move would cost hundreds of dollars to reprint the ballots. Iran's final investigation into the May helicopter crash that killed president Ebrahim Raisi has found it was caused by bad weather, the body investigating the case said Sunday. The helicopter carrying 63-year-old Raisi and his entourage came down on a fog-shrouded mountainside in northern Iran, killing the president and seven others, and triggering snap elections. The main cause of the helicopter crash was the «complex climatic and atmospheric conditions of the region in the spring», the special board investigating the dimensions and causes of the helicopter accident said, according to state broadcaster IRIB.

Congress screening committee on Sunday said that the party was currently doing its preparations for all 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand. The committee headed by its chairman Girish Chodankar arrived at Jharkhand's capital Ranchi on Saturday to review preparations for the assembly elections due later this year. The party has invited applications from all those who want to contest upcoming assembly polls, he said. «We are getting an exciting response. Fifty to 100 applications are being received from each assembly segment. Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday alleged the Election Commission has changed the date of counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls at the behest of the BJP. «They (ECI) do what suits the BJP. When I contested the (Lok Sabha) elections, they unnecessarily changed the date (of polling). Everything is done as per the wishes of the BJP and its proxy parties,» she told reporters here. Mufti was talking to mediapersons after several second rung politicians joined the PDP at the party office here. The Election Commission on Saturday announced a change in the day of counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir from October 4 to October 8.
