Farmers urge non-NDA MPs to move pvt bills on MSP guarantee
budget session of Parliament, protesting farmers have approached non-NDA MPs to push for a minimum support price (MSP) guarantee legislation through private members' bills. Farmers have upped the ante against the BJP-led NDA ahead of the session, which begins on July 22. Two farmer organisations — Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha — which have been leading the protests since February this year, have started approaching MPs to once again push for their demands. The groups have framed a list of demands for all the non-NDA MPs to push through private members' bills during the session. A beginning is being made with MPs of agrarian states where the two organisations have a good presence. These include Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The Labour Party's win: Britain must not squander a chance to arrest its decline
I recently spent ten days in the United Kingdom, driving through the English countryside and occasionally giving lectures. My journey included visits to historical landmarks like the majestic Durham Cathedral, completed in 1133 CE, and the little village in Lincolnshire where Isaac Newton was born. But I also saw, in London and across the country, signs of urban decay and neglect, as well as homelessness, poverty and despair.

Can the Labour Party bring back Britain’s green groove?
Britain, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, erstwhile coal-burning imperial behemoth, wants to be a “clean energy superpower.” At least that’s the promise of the man poised to be the next prime minister, Keir Starmer. His Labour Party was projected to win the parliamentary elections Thursday, ending 14 years of Conservative Party rule. Labour made big campaign promises on climate. How that actually plays out will be felt not only in the daily lives of people in Britain, but also on the nation’s standing in the world.

Automobile, pharma rally hits bulls’ high
Indian benchmark indices soared to fresh all-time highs on Tuesday, led by gains in auto and pharmaceutical stocks. Analysts said the uninterrupted rise in equities since the election results on June 4 has resulted in an overbought market, although a big reversal is unlikely for the moment. NSE's Nifty rose 112.65 points or 0.46% to close at 24,433.20, having hit a lifetime high of 24,443.60 during the day. BSE's Sensex rose 391.26 points or 0.49% to end at 80,351.64, down from an intraday record of 80,397.17.

Congress will prepare to contest from all seats in Maharashtra assembly polls, says state chief Nana Patole
Congress chief Nana Patole on Saturday said the party will prepare to contest from all seats in the upcoming state assembly elections but will fight as per the seat sharing agreement with its alliance partners. Talking to reporters at his Nagpur residence, Patole said it won't be wrong if the party prepares to contest the elections from all seats as it should have its organisational structure and work everywhere. The elections to the 288-member Maharashtra assembly are due in October. «A party should have its organisational structure and work at every place. An alliance will be formed as per the seat sharing on the merits. Preparing for all seats is not wrong, and even our alliance partners are preparing the same way. We will contest the elections as Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA),» the Congress leader said.

In France, investors get the centrist limbo they wanted
When it comes to France’s turbulent politics, the current impasse is probably the best investors could have hoped for. The second round of French legislative elections delivered a widely expected hung parliament, but not its predicted makeup: Rather than coming in first, Marine Le Pen’s far-right and anti-immigrant National Rally finished third. In a shock twist, the leftist New Popular Front alliance emerged victorious, with the party of President Emmanuel Macron and its allies in second place.
