Spain vs France: Euro Cup 2024 semifinal prediction, timing, how to watch
Euro Cup 2024 as this time around, both teams' rivalry and intensity will simply be unmatched in this semifinal clash. Spain scored two goals against Germany and won, though their opponents gave them a real hard time after scoring an equalizer in the last leg of the game. However, France was not so lucky as to close the quarterfinals chapter within the 90 minutes and had to proceed to the penalties to ultimately claim victory of Portugal, a very dangerous team, owing to players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Pepe. France ensured that Ronaldo's journey at the Euros was officially over, as according to a previous ET report, the footballing icon will not play in further Euro championships.

Remember the onion price shock last year? This time, the govt is acting early
mandi, India's largest vegetable wholesale market, sparking fears that prices could soar in the weeks and months ahead. Supplies from the onion hub of Nashik in Maharashtra have been lower than usual, an official who attended the discussions said, adding though the situation is not alarming yet, the government does not want to take chances. "If this continues for some time, we may ask traders to declare their stocks, and if this fails, the next step will be imposition of stock limits," the official said on condition of anonymity.

No scope for alliance between Congress, AAP for assembly polls in Haryana, Delhi: Jairam Ramesh
Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday. In an interview with PTI, Ramesh said there is no one formula the INDIA bloc will follow for state elections. The grouping will fight together in states where Congress leaders and other alliance partners agree to such an understanding, he said. Asked whether the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will fight the assembly polls together going forward, Ramesh said the alliance will do so in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. «There is no INDIA 'janbandhan' in Punjab. In Haryana, we had given one seat to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Lok Sabha polls but I don't think that INDIA janbandhan will be there for assembly polls. In Delhi, the AAP itself has said that INDIA janbandhan will not be there for assembly polls,» Ramesh said.

J-K political parties oppose Centre's move to give more powers to Lt Guv
Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday voiced their strong opposition to the Centre's move to vest more powers in the Union Territory's Lieutenant Governor for taking decisions on matters related to police and all-India service officers. While main regional outfits — the National Conference (NC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) — said the decision would «disempower» the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress termed it as the «murder of democracy» and the Apni Party urged all parties to shun differences and unitedly protest against the move. NC Vice President Omar Abdullah said the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve better than a «powerless, rubber stamp» chief minister who will have to beg the Lieutenant Governor to get a peon appointed. The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, however, said the move was «another indicator that elections are around the corner in J&K».

Anger against Independents joining BJP helped Congress win Dehra, Nalagarh bypolls: Pratibha Singh
Pratibha Singh said, claiming this to be a reason behind her party's win in the Dehra and Nalagarh bypolls on Saturday. «We were confident of winning by-elections as anger among the electorate against the Independent MLAs was discernible after they resigned and joined the BJP. The general public was asking why they resigned when voters had elected them, defeating both the Congress and the BJP,» Singh said. Fielding of good candidates for the seats also played a big role in the party's victory, she added.

Democratic leaders look to Kamala Harris as Biden's campaign struggles
Joe Biden's debate performance. Amid the swirling uncertainties, discussions among top Democratic circles are already shifting towards the prospect of Vice President Kamala Harris potentially leading the party's ticket in the upcoming election, CNN reported. Many leading party figures, operatives, and donors are increasingly convinced that Biden's efforts to rejuvenate his campaign may not suffice. Close allies express scepticism about his ability to lead a successful re-election bid, according to CNN's conversations with numerous Democratic politicians and strategists. While Biden often urges not to measure himself against perfection but against the alternative, an expanding contingent within the Democratic ranks is starting to evaluate Harris as a viable alternative.

Watch Dutch PM Mark Rutt leaves PMO on bicycle after serving for 14 years, handing over power to his successor Dick Schoff
Netherlands, outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte bid farewell from his office in The Hague in a uniquely Dutch fashion—by bicycle. After a tenure spanning 14 years, Rutte has passed the baton to Dick Schoof, former intelligence chief, who took the oath of office in a ceremony presided over by King Willem-Alexander. Schoof's appointment marks a notable departure from the traditional political landscape, as he assumes leadership without affiliation to any party and absent from the recent electoral fray. Rutte, meanwhile, is poised to assume the role of secretary-general of NATO, a strategic alliance safeguarding member nations across Europe and North America.

To a defiant Joe Biden, the 2024 race is up to the voters, not to Democrats on Capitol Hill
Joe Biden, the 2024 election is up to the public — not the Democrats on Capitol Hill. But the chorus of Democratic voices calling for him to step aside is growing, from donors, strategists, lawmakers and their constituents who say he should bow out. The party has not fallen in line behind him even after the events that were set up as part of a blitz to reset his imperiled campaign and show everyone he wasn't too old to stay in the job or to do it another four years. On Saturday, a fifth Democratic lawmaker said openly that Biden should not run again. Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota said that after what she saw and heard in the debate with Republican rival Donald Trump, and Biden's «lack of a forceful response» afterward, he should step aside «and allow for a new generation of leaders to step forward.»
