Relationships
The lesser-known tale of India's trade with two giants: US and China
India's global trade story has long been shaped by its relationships with two of its largest partners: the United States and China. While these relationships have grown significantly over the past decade, they show stark contrasts that often remain as lesser-known facts, at least like Crisil called it in an investr note. India’s trade with the U.S. and China reached $120 billion and $118 billion respectively in fiscal 2024, doubling over the last decade. However, the similarity ends here, Crisil said, as it notes hat India has a $35.3 billion trade surplus with the U.S., while it faces an $85.1 billion trade deficit with China.

Mobile industry seeks enhanced air cargo handling capacity amid expected jump in smartphone export
«In China, while the factory to export take-off from the cargo terminal is achieved on Day 1, in India, the export take off happens only by Day 2. This is a glaring chasm especially when seen in the context of the volume of exports which in the case of China is more than 30 times electronics output (USD 959 billion) compared to India (USD 29 billion) in 2023,» Mohindroo said. Electronics is already India's largest export in air cargo while it's ranked third overall behind engineering and petrol.

Premium products drive growth in consumer electronics despite sluggish volume sales: NielsenIQ
premium products, said market researcher NielsenIQ. “This growth is fuelled by the shift toward connected, feature-rich appliances and smartphones, with a clear preference for products that offer both convenience and long-term value," said Anant Jain, head of customer success in tech and durables at NielsenIQ. He said the festive period also contributed to the growth, with more consumers timing their purchases to benefit from promotions and special offers. There was a recovery in sales volume in October due to festive demand. As per NielsenIQ, the four weeks of the festive period till Diwali drove 13% value sales growth and 8% volume growth.
