He noted that once upon a time, people were only dependent on print media and electronic media, now they are dependent on social media. «In media, what we need is credibility, goodwill...people are expecting information from the media by which they can make the qualitative transformation of our democracy,» the minister said.

China slams US for adding firms to export control list, vows action
China's Ministry of Commerce said on Sunday it strongly opposed a U.S. decision to add multiple Chinese entities to its export control list over Russia-related issues. The United States on Friday added 105 Russian and Chinese firms to a trade restriction list over their alleged support of the Russian military. The companies — 42 Chinese, 63 Russian and 18 from other countries — were targeted for reasons from sending U.S. electronics to Russian military-related parties to producing thousands of Shahed-136 drones for Russia to use in its invasion of Ukraine.

Why women need more and better jobs and why core problems like lack of safety, mobility need to be addressed
In Pimpri near Pune, when Tata Motors set the ball rolling to set up a pioneering all-woman line at its Harrier and Safari SUV plant, prospective employees —and their parents —had concerns about how they would travel and where they would stay. The management realised that for their mission to succeed, an important piece that had to fall in place was an assurance that the female workers would have a safe commute and accommodation. Says Sitaram Kandi, chief human resources officer, Tata Motors: “Where they would stay became our biggest concern since we didn’t have hostels. We shortlisted hostels near the plant and each one was visited by three different teams at different times of the day so that we could give the girls and their parents confidence.” After a tough initial phase, Tata Motors was able to increase the share of women on the shopfloor from 4% to 12%. “When you think of women’s employment, three big infrastructural barriers end up being the lack of safety, mobility and childcare,” says Pooja Goyal, founding CEO of Udaiti Foundation, which focuses on women’s economic empowerment. “For women to go out of the house to work, the benefit needs to be significantly more than what it is for a man since they are the ones doing the caregiving.”

Amazon India set to tweak seller fees ahead of festive season
Amazon India is set to tweak its seller fee structures with effect September 9, with several categories seeing a reduction in commissions in the run up to the festive season. The firm has reduced commissions in the range of 3-12% for 59 sub-categories, Amazon India’s director of selling partner services, Amit Nanda, told ET. The reduction is focused on products with low average selling price (ASP), he said. “We also wanted to help our sellers in planning for their Diwali and other festive sales… with this change, we’re hoping sellers will find it as cheap, if not cheaper, to sell some products on Amazon compared to their offline channels,” Nanda said.

Quick-commerce vs e-commerce: Ready for the new pricefight in town?
ecommerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart by matching their prices across groceries and fast-selling general merchandise, triggering a price war in the home delivery space. This is a departure from the earlier pricing strategy of quick-commerce players who typically charged 10-15% premium over average ecommerce marketplace prices for instant deliveries, industry executives said. The strategy now is to win consumers from large ecommerce at a time when urban shoppers increasingly prefer faster and scheduled deliveries, they said.
