SGB taxation in budget 2024: Changed capital gain tax on maturity, selling prematurely in RBI's buyback or on stock exchange
Sovereign gold bonds
The Sovereign Gold Bonds are issued by Government of India (GOI) as Government of India Stock in accordance with Section 3 of the Government Securities Act, 2006 (GS Act 2006). Interest rate on bonds is 2.5% now and will be paid on a half yearly basis. The amount will be credited by RBI to the bank account of the holder of SGB. Where the bonds are held with the depositories, the interest amount will be disbursed through depositories, who will arrange to credit the amount to the bank accounts through electronic means on the due date.
