Disney job cuts: ABC News President accused of not taking any questions while announcing layoffs at FiveThirtyEight
ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic appeared to be reading from a script when he informed five thirty-eight staff members at the data-focused news site that 15 of their colleagues received termination notices. The employees had known about job terminations in the company after a Wall Street Journal report. Karamehmedovic followed a prepared statement during the meeting while fielding no questions nor offering any information about Disney's decision to discontinue FiveThirtyEight operations, according to the Status newsletter. The statement ended with a handshake before HR representatives took over communication duties. Team access to ABC News systems ended immediately following the staff meeting as the FiveThirtyEight website disappeared from the internet.

How much do Oscars hosts earn for Hollywood's most glamorous gig? The paycheck amount will leave you in surprise
The Academy Awards — the most glamorous night in Hollywood — is synonymous with opulence, prestige, and the crème de la crème of the entertainment world. With A-list stars strutting down the red carpet and the Dolby Theatre glittering under the spotlight, one would expect every aspect of the ceremony to carry an exorbitant price tag — especially for the evening's host. However, what might leave you truly stunned is just how little Oscars hosts are paid for orchestrating one of the world's most-watched events.

Whether it’s 80 or 90 hours a week, India must work hard to achieve a $30 trillion economy by 2047, says Amitabh Kant
Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said that Indians must work hard to reach the ambitious goal of making India a USD 30 trillion economy by 2047. Speaking on the ongoing debate about work hours, he pointed out that countries like Japan, South Korea, and China achieved economic success through a strong work ethic. He suggested that India must adopt a similar mindset to build a world-class economy. “I strongly believe in hard work. Indians must work hard, whether it’s 80 hours or 90 hours a week. If your ambition is to move from a USD 4 trillion to a USD 30 trillion economy, you can’t do it through entertainment or by following the views of some film stars,” Kant said at Business Standard’s Manthan summit. Currently, India’s economy stands at around USD 4 trillion. Kant also said that India must focus on delivering projects ahead of time, maintaining world-class standards, and avoiding time and cost overruns.

Manu Joseph: How entertainment got boring in the age of streaming
Subscribe to enjoy similar stories. A few weeks ago, I read a headline in The Guardian: “Is Netflix deliberately dumbing down TV so people can watch while scrolling?" I had to read the rest of the article, even though I knew that if a newspaper asks a question in the headline, it means it doesn’t know the answer—otherwise, the answer would be the headline. Also, theories about the complex manipulation of human behaviour by a company are usually exaggerations.
