Manipur government ordered a Magisterial inquiry into the death of Bashanti Devi and her minor daughter Adhikarimayum Lanchenbi Devi in Imphal West district. An official said that Imphal West’s District Magistrate Shamim Ahmad Shah in a notification on Tuesday requested the interested people to give oral evidence or produce any material and documents about the death before the inquiry officer on or before November 8. Toothpaste maker Colgate increased marketing and ad spending by 17.8% in the July-September period to ₹242 crore and expects the momentum to continue, while Godrej Consumer Products said in a post-earnings call that it will continue to incrementally increase ad spends as it did in the past quarter. Colgate in a management commentary said a step up in ad spends, which were nearly a percentage point higher from a year earlier, were on account of innovation in the quarter. Nestle India increased advertising and marketing investments in the September quarter. «We kept a relentless focus on investing behind our core brands, with advertising and marketing investments increasing this quarter,» Nestle India chairman Suresh Narayanan said in an earnings statement. Addressing reporters at Nestle's Samalakha factory last week, Narayanan said the company is «taking steps to address pockets of weakness and mitigate local competition with higher ad spends».

Reliance New Energy (RNEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has acquired the remaining stake in sodium-ion battery technology company Faradion from existing shareholders, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary, the company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday. RNEL, in December 2021 announced the acquisition of Faradion at an Enterprise Value of £100 million. RIL had then stated that it intends to use Faradion’s technology at its proposed fully integrated energy storage giga-factory, part of the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex facility at Jamnagar.

The diagnostics services business of FHL is being undertaken primarily through Agilus. «Commission approves the acquisition of additional 31.52 per cent share capital of Agilus Diagnostics Ltd by Fortis Healthcare Ltd,» according to a post by CCI on X.

dearness allowance (DA) of government employees in Uttarakhand was increased on Tuesday from 50 per cent to 53 per cent per month.All regular and full-time employees of the state government and officials associated with the UGC can avail of the increased DA with retrospective effect from July 1, 2024, according to an official statement. The arrears of dearness allowance from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2024 will be paid in cash, it said. The allowance will be added to the regular salary from October 1, 2024.

Supreme Court had sought response from debt-ridden SKS Power Generation (Chhattisgarh) Ltd, its lenders and its resolution professional on an appeal by Torrent Power challenging the approval granted to Sarda Energy and Minerals resolution plan for takeover of the power generation firm. A Bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud while issuing notice to SKS, its Committee of Creditors and resolution professional Ashish Arjunkumar Rathi and Sarda Energy, the successful resolution applicant, observed that “there is much more than what meets the eye.” The apex court also noted senior counsel AM Singhvi’s submission on behalf of Torrent that the Sarda’s bid was modified in material respects after the conclusion of the negotiation process. However, the CJI directed that “any further steps which are taken in implementation of the resolution plan by the second respondent (Sarda) shall not create any equities in their favour.”

Insurance Co on Tuesday bought shares of PNB Housing Finance worth Rs 90 crore through an open market transaction. According to the block deal data available on the BSE, HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Ltd purchased a little over 10 lakh shares or 0.4 per cent stake in PNB Housing Finance. The shares were picked up at an average price of Rs 900 apiece, taking the transaction value to Rs 90 crore.

Siddaramaiah on Tuesday sought to calm down farmers in Vijayapura, Yadgir and Dharwad districts, agitated after the revenue authorities issued them notices claiming that their farmlands were owned by the Waqf Board. «No farmer will be evicted from his land. If the government has issued any notice, they will be withdrawn,» the CM told media persons in Bengaluru responding to queries on farmers in these districts getting notices. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Waqf Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan and Industries minister MB Patil have already clarified on the subject, the CM said.
