Lok Sabha constituencies, Chennai North and Chennai South, with the incumbent DMK locking horns with the AIADMK and the BJP. The BJP has fielded Tamilisai Soundararajan, former governor of Telangana to contest the coveted Chennai South constituency, which is the state's fourth largest constituency with more than two million voters. Soundararajan faces T Sumathy of the DMK and J Jayavardhan of the AIADMK. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Sumathy won a thumping majority with a 50.28% vote share. The constituency has remained a stronghold of the DMK, with the party winning it five times while the AIADMK has won it twice. In North Chennai, Kalanidhi Veeraswamy of the DMK, R Manohar of the AIADMK, RC Paul Kanagaraj of the BJP and E Iqbal of the BSP are in the fray.

The EC should take cognizance of the complaint and...the EC should also take appropriate action. What else do you expect from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's family? They (Lalu's family) believe in breaking the law, promoting 'goondaraj', indulging in corrupt practices etc...», Chaudhary told reporters.

Kharge on Saturday claimed the BJP, according to an internal survey of the RSS, will not win even 200 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and won't cross even eight seats in the state. Accusing Union Home Minister Amit Shah of «lying», for his recent statement alleging delay on the part of the state government in submission of a proposal to the Centre seeking drought relief, he said Shah should have been the «Minister of misinformation». «RSS' internal survey says they (BJP) won't get even 200 seats. RSS is saying it. In the state, they won't cross even eight seats. How will they win, in fourteen to fifteen seats there is internal fighting (in BJP),» Kharge claimed. Speaking to reporters here, he said several senior BJP leaders are even speaking about the need to cleanse the party.

Mamata Banerjee on Saturday blamed NIA officials of attacking villagers at Bhupatinagar in East Midnapore district and not the other way round. «The attack was not carried out by women of Bhupatinagar, it was by the National Investigation Agency (NIA),» she said at an election rally in South Dinajpur district's Balurghat. She claimed that the probe agency team had gone to the houses of villagers in the early hours over an incident of «bursting of crackers in 2022».
