Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Uddhav Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena (UBT) has in a retort to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled the BJP leader's "fake degree" controversy, as per an ANI report. Referring to Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah labelling his faction of the Shiv Sena as "fake", Thackeray said that the Maharashtra-based party was founded by Bal Thackeray and is "not your degree", it added. He was speaking at a campaign rally in Boisar on April 12.

Congress has fielded against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Gujarat's Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, said she was not at all hesitant to fight the upcoming election against the senior BJP leader. The NC leader claimed that the BJP leader Tarun Chugh had recently come to meet Bukhari at his home in Srinagar and Lone was summoned there and given directions. “Let BJP field its candidates directly here and seek votes in the name of BJP and what they did here. See how many votes they will garner. Stop using A team, B team and C team here. If you have done much then please field BJP candidates and if they don't lose their security deposit i will quit politics,” he said.

SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said the DNA test of those who are joining the BJP should be conducted and said that his party is the «voice of Punjab». Badal was addressing a gathering after inducting state BJP executive member and social activist professor Sumrinder Singh Sira into the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). «The DNA test of those who are joining the BJP should be conducted,» Badal said without taking any name. His statement came hours after SAD leader Sikandar Singh Maluka's son Gurpreet Singh Maluka and daughter-in-law Parampal Kaur Sidhu joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and its national general secretary Vinod Tawde in Delhi.

BJP worker sustained head injuries after he was attacked allegedly by two men with a wooden stick in Kempashettidoddi village here, police said on Thursday. Naveen CS (34), a farmer, was attacked on April 9, they said. Following the incident, BJP State President BY Vijayendra accused the Congress of attacking BJP-JDS workers and creating an atmosphere of fear. According to Naveen's family, a day before the incident, he had gone to his acquaintance Shekhar's house after some persons told him that the latter had called him. Things took a turn when Naveen did not return home that night. In his complaint, the victim's brother Shivakumar C S stated that on April 9, he got a call from someone saying that his brother was at Shekhar's house in Kempashettidoddi village. When Shivakumar and his father went there to pick Naveen up, they saw Shekhar and his accomplice allegedly fighting with Naveen, and hit him with a wooden stick on his head. The accused even tried to allegedly attack Naveen with a knife, but he survived as his brother and father intervened. The accused then fled the spot. The victim was immediately rushed to a local hospital where after initial treatment, he was shifted to another one where is currently being treated.
