L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has set a new benchmark at the box office with a record-breaking Rs 22 crore collection on its opening day. Notably, the film enjoyed a strong 60% occupancy across all Malayalam shows, with certain regions like Kochi and Kozhikode—where Mohanlal enjoys immense popularity—seeing occupancy rates soar past 90%, with almost all shows selling out. The impressive Rs 22 crore total includes Rs 19.45 crore from Malayalam audiences, while the Telugu version earned Rs 1.2 crore. However, the film's dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada saw more modest returns, contributing just Rs 1.35 crore combined on opening day.

As per Sacnilk reports, the pre-sales figures for the action thriller have already crossed Rs 50 crore globally. The early reviews for the Malayalam magnum opus are already out on Twitter.
