Citi Disney PINK film show cover After SAG-AFTRA, IATSE strike looms large in Hollywood
IATSE) is holding a vote on whether the 1,500 people on a so-called pink contract should go on strike. The move has been taken after the talks between Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway League came to an end without a conclusion. If the majority votes for the strike, 1500 people working in 45 theatrical shows with 28 productions on Broadway and 17 on Tour will join the strike, bringing the filming job to a standstill. The IATSE has said that if the deal is not struck, these workers will begin the strike on Friday. To go for a strike, the unions must get at least 75 percent yes votes, but it doesn’t mean necessarily going on the strike. The negotiations may take palace and the majority vote may be a ploy to warn and show strength for a better bargain. The pink workers are generally employed directly by the production houses and either they work out of the city or go on a tour. They are covered under IATSE Local One. Talking to journalists, IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb said that the pink workers need to show unity and strength to ensure they get better wages and the working conditions that they deserve. The previous contract came into effect on July 1, 2019, and it ceased to exist on July 2, 2023. The first negotiation was held on May 25, when the two sides sat, talked, and held negotiations for 19 hours. Some progress was made in the negotiations, particularly on the issues of healthcare and housing for the touring workers. But wage hikes and the daily and weekly rest periods are some of the sticking points. A spokesperson for the Broadway League, an association of producers and managers, refused to comment.

COST Action film Actor Warner Bros performer Inside 'Masters of the Universe': He-man live action film adaptation faces major setback, Netflix drops plans. Here's why
He-man’s Masters of the Universe franchise had hopes of a new live-action film adaptation brewing for years. However, it appears now that the project has been abruptly canceled at Netflix, marking yet another setback, according to reports. Netflix, as per reports, had invested about $30 million in development costs and securing talent such as actor Kyle Allen for the role of He-Man, along with directors Adam and Aaron Nee. Some insiders claim that the investment had reached twice that amount. Ultimately, Netflix decided to halt production on Masters of the Universe due to peaking «budget concerns». This unfortunate turn of events follows the project's previous stints at Warner Bros. Pictures and Sony Pictures. Netflix had initially allocated a generous budget of $200 million, and production was scheduled to commence in February. While Netflix experienced a stock drop unrelated to the budget issues, the streaming giant eventually capped its investment at $150 million, refusing to allocate further funds. The Nee brothers reportedly made efforts to salvage the project, proposing a reduced budget of $180 million and even considering shooting the movie and its promised sequel back-to-back to lower costs. Unfortunately, no middle ground was reached, although Netflix remains impressed with the directors. However, a potential change in fate may be on the horizon following the release of Mattel-owned property Barbie. If it performs well at the box office, it could spark renewed interest from studios in resurrecting Masters of the Universe. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether Kyle Allen and the Nee brothers will remain attached to the project.
