Australia surged into the Women's World Cup last 16 on Monday with Hayley Raso scoring twice in a 4-0 battering of Canada as Nigeria joined them in the knockout phase. Olympic champions Canada were dumped out at the hands of a fired-up Australian team who knew they had to win in Melbourne to progress. They did it in style, their big victory putting them through as Group B winners, meaning they will probably avoid European champions England in the next round.

Two years of internet IPOs: rush, retreat, regroup
₹1 trillion, some heralded a new phase for Indian internet businesses. Five more internet businesses—typically, visible and fast-growing, but bleeding—followed Zomato to sell shares to the public at rich valuations, in the process offering exits to institutional investors who had shepherded them till then. Two years on, public investors stand singed, private capital faces animosity, and companies are under scrutiny.

Legislature can impose total prohibition on cow slaughter, says Delhi HC
cow slaughter in the national capital pursuant to a law enacted by the city government. It said for other states, the petitioner was free to take appropriate steps in light of a Supreme Court decision, which held that legislature cannot be compelled to come out with a particular legislation. «The Supreme Court observed that only a competent legislature can decide such questions arising in relation to prohibition of slaughter of cow and its progeny, and the Supreme Court, in exercise of its writ jurisdiction, cannot compel the legislature to promulgate a particular legislation. The court ultimately left it to the appellants in the case to approach the legislature,» said a bench, also comprising Justice Sanjeev Narula, in an order passed last week. «There is already an Act in force in the State of Delhi as discussed above which provides for ban on slaughter of cattle, and in respect of other states the Petitioner shall certainly be free to take appropriate steps in light of the order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court,» the court said. The petitioner prayed for a direction to the Centre for a «total prohibition» on the «slaughter of cow and its progeny which includes old-useless bulls, bullocks and old buffaloes and male counterpart, without any further delay».

Chandrayaan-3 is now 6 days away from reaching moon, critical slingshot manoeuvre tonight
Chandrayaan-3, the nation's third lunar mission, is rapidly approaching the lunar orbit, with a pivotal slingshot manoeuvre scheduled between 12 am and 1 am on August 1. This midnight trans-lunar injection (TLI) manoeuvre, lasting approximately 28 to 31 minutes, will see the spacecraft's thrusters fired at the closest point to Earth (perigee) rather than at the farthest point (apogee). The reason for attempting the slingshot from perigee lies in the spacecraft's elliptical orbit around Earth, with its velocity ranging from 1 km/second to 10.3 km/second.

Samsung aims for over 50% India premium market share: TM Roh
Samsung is aiming to achieve over 50% market share in the super-premium price segment (above $1000) in India with the launch of its latest foldable smartphones, where it already accounts for 35% share, with the country operating as one of its fastest growing, largest, and strategic markets, said a top Samsung executive. “In the second half of 2023, with the new and improved Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, we will be solidifying our foldable leadership in the India market,” said TM Roh, president and head of MX (Mobile Experiences) business, Samsung Electronics. The executive added that the timing for when the foldable form factor will be replacing the conventional bar-type phones will largely depend on India. The company expects to ship 30 million units of cumulative sales of its foldables in 2023, with the year expected to be a tipping point “where the foldable category is going to become a mainstream category,” Roh said, adding that in the future, the foldable form factor is going to expand to other categories like tablets and PCs. The segment itself is expected to become mainstream in another five years, and surpass 100 million units per year, Roh said, citing market research organisations. He added that the company is working with strategic parts suppliers to make the form factor more affordable.

Metals can be tactical trade for next few months: Aman Chowhan
"Chemicals is one space which is underrated right now because clearly we are seeing earnings headwinds, we are seeing margin pressures because China's supply has opened up so that is also something for the next three to six months one should be very watchful," says Aman Chowhan, Abakkus Asset Management. So, financial seems to be the consensus trade that you are talking about. But which is the most underrated sector, you would say, is that technology? Technology, yes but at the same time stocks have not corrected the way the results have been, the way the Infosys revised guidance, there has not been much impact on the stock price.
