Ceasefire talks gain ground even as IDF continues attack
Gaza when Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners would be released, sources told Reuters, as Israel pressed ahead with its assault on southern Gaza's main city. Qatar, the US and Egypt have for weeks shuttled between Israel and the militant group that runs Gaza trying to broker terms for a break in fighting, which would also allow in more food and medical supplies. But the two sides remain at odds over how to permanently end the Gaza war, which Hamas insists must be decided as part of any ceasefire agreement, the sources said. Israeli spokesperson Eylon Levy said on Tuesday there would be no ceasefire that left Hamas in power and hostages in Gaza, following the militant group's cross-border rampage on Oct.

Arunachal Pradesh to have a mini food park in West Siang district
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that the government will establish a mini food park in the West Siang district with food processing units for all produce of the entire Siang belt. Khandu declared that the Arunachal Pineapple Festival, held at Bagra for the first time as a community initiative in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Marketing Board, will be an annual event to be organized by the state department of Horticulture. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day event, Khandu appreciated the local residents under the banner of All Bagra Welfare Society for conceptualizing the festival in collaboration with the state marketing board to highlight and revive pineapple cultivation in the area. “I must congratulate the All Bagra Welfare Society for organizing this unique and novel event without relying on government funding,” he said. Underscoring West Siang’s potential in horticulture, Khandu assured to establish a mini food park in the district with food processing units for all produces of the entire Siang belt. It may be noted that Bagra village in particular and Pushi Bango in general cultivated pineapple in large scale since 1950 under the patronage of the first pineapple grower of the area late Tojo Bagra. A pineapple grower association was formed in 1980 to explore better marketing avenues, regulate price and push for establishment of a large scale processing unit.

Moti Mahal and Daryaganj's tussle over Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani throws up lessons, and aroma
Indian cuisine around the world are now embroiled in a dispute that may well modify the old saw that links the stomach to the heart, and to add brain, intellect and IP to the mix. Restaurant chains Moti Mahal and Daryaganj each claim to be the original inventor of both butter chicken and dal makhani. While Moti Mahal is not exactly claiming to exercise IP rights over these two dishes, and thereby bar others from cooking up the dish without a licence from them, they want Daryaganj to know its place and stop claiming they invented the dishes. Moti Mahal has sought an injunction against Daryaganj using the tag line, 'Inventors of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani'.

Budget expectations: Different segments of the population have hopes from the interim budget Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present on February 1. Many think Sitharaman might deliver a populist budget in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections while many others think the government is under no pressure to please different voting segments with benefits in the budget due to the BJP's bright poll prospects. Also Read: Budget 2024 can sow inclusive growth for farmers & women to get a vibrant Bharat There is another argument that Sitharamn might offer some benefits to the people at the bottom rungs of the economy in view of the high inflation in this financial year. Invest in 6 sectors that have come out of hibernation & deserve fresh money: Gautam Shah
Gautam Shah, Founder & Chief Strategist, Goldilocks Premium Research, says “metals have started to look quite interesting. Nalco is a very high conviction idea for us for the whole of 2024 and can deliver supernormal returns. Steel Authority of India, Tata Steel, JSW Steel may beat the Nifty returns for sure for the next two to three quarters. Auto ancillary, I think, is a very interesting space as is fertilisers. Paper stocks and that entire unlocked theme of airlines, hotels. Other unlocked theme stocks like Sapphire Foods, Devyani International have very good fundamentals and have not done as well as some of the other themes. They should do quite well.”

Prosus may have promoter tag in Swiggy’s $1 billion IPO
The Dutch-listed investment arm of South African conglomerate Naspers has been trying to bring its holding in Swiggy to below 26% from the current 33%, but its talks with potential investors haven’t been successful.
