PepsiCo to double India revenue in 5 yrs, invest in capacity building in key market
PepsiCo aims to double its revenue in India over the next five years, viewing the country as a 'key anchor market' where it is making «aggressive» investments to expand its capacity, its India & South Asia CEO Jagrut Kotecha said. India will be the «engine of growth for PepsiCo» in driving its global revenue, as it ranks among the top three markets for the food, snack, and beverage multinational, where the company is experiencing double-digit growth, Kotecha shared in an exclusive interview with PTI. PepsiCo has invested in greenfield plants in Uttar Pradesh and Assam, focusing on staying ahead of the demand curve, Kotecha said, adding the company will not be «investment shy» in India and plans to open two more facilities, including one in the southern region. «We believe India will be the engine of growth for PepsiCo to drive the top line. Yes, it's not as big as North America because it is a lot more evolved category. Our per capita consumption in India is still very low, not only for us on beverage and food, but we would expect one of PepsiCo's fastest growing economies to do that,» Kotecha said.

Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh brace for upcoming food reductions as aid agencies cut funding
Bangladesh — Rohingya refugees in crammed Bangladeshi camps say they are worried about a U.S. decision to cut food rations by half beginning next month, while a refugee official says the reduction will impact the nutrition of more than 1 million refugees and create «social and mental pressure.» President Donald Trump abruptly stopped most foreign aid and dismantled the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has significantly hampered the global humanitarian sector. Trump's Jan. 20 executive order froze the funding for a 90-day review. The World Food Program, the main U.N. food agency, recently announced that cuts to food rations will take effect from April 1 in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, where dozens of camps are inhabited by Rohingya refugees.

But it's a common misconception that exercising in a fasted state improves performance or burns more calories, said Abby Langer, a dietitian in Toronto. «The research shows that in terms of gains, it doesn't really make much of a difference,» she said.

Who’s cracking up prices? Justice Department scrambles to investigate soaring egg prices
Cal-Maine Foods and Rose Acre Farms have engaged in anticompetitive practices. According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, investigators are preparing to issue civil investigative demands—akin to subpoenas—seeking internal pricing and supply data. While it remains unclear whether the investigation will lead to legal action, consumer advocacy groups and some lawmakers have been urging federal authorities to scrutinise the egg industry’s pricing tactics.

A series of unfortunate lit fest events

India's economic growth pegged at 6.5% for FY26 despite Trump tariff threat: CRISIL
CRISIL. The forecast rests on two key assumptions: the continuation of normal monsoon patterns and soft commodity prices. CRISIL expects that these factors, coupled with cooling food inflation, tax benefits outlined in the Union Budget 2025-2026, and lower borrowing costs, will stimulate discretionary consumption. «India’s resilience is being tested again. Over the past few years, we have built a few safe harbours against exogenous shocks — healthy economic growth, low current account deficit and external public debt, and adequate forex reserves — which provide ample policy latitude. So, while the waters can turn choppy, consumption-led rural and urban demand will be crucial to short-term growth. On the other hand, continuing investments and efficiency gains will aid in the medium term. We foresee both manufacturing and services supporting growth through fiscal 2031,» said Amish Mehta, Managing Director and CEO of CRISIL.

Rs 5,000 crore man washed utensils at home while his ex-SBI wife cooked food. It was their happy marriage secret
Dr. A Velumani, the founder of Thyrocare, recently shared his perspective on two types of individuals—those who learn to cook and those who dismiss it as a waste of time. According to him, the first group enjoys stronger relationships and a happier married life, while the latter, even if they marry into wealth, often struggles with sustaining relationships. In a heartfelt tribute on X, he honored his late wife, Sumathi Velumani, for her dedication to nurturing both their families. Reflecting on her impact, he emphasised the importance of cooking as a life skill, especially in households with annual incomes ranging from ₹5 to ₹25 lakh. He also suggested that parents who fail to teach their children how to cook might regret it later, as food plays a vital role in forming emotional connections.

Did Meghan Markle bend the truth in her Netflix docuseries? Estranged half-brother speaks out, 'we weren’t poor...'
With Love, Meghan has sparked a fresh wave of controversy — and this time, it's her own family calling her out. The Duchess of Sussex's estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., is accusing Meghan of fabricating stories about her humble upbringing, branding her recollections as «malarkey.» In the eight-episode series, Meghan paints a picture of growing up glued to cooking shows and learning her way around the kitchen — a narrative Thomas Jr. claims couldn't be further from the truth. Speaking to the UK’s TalkTV, the 58-year-old dismissed the claims outright.
