Karnataka government hospital conducted a pre-wedding shoot in the operation theatre of a government hospital. The video of the insensitive incident later went viral, following which he was suspended from the service. In the video, the doctor could be seen performing a «surgery» on a patient, while his partner was assisting him. At the end of the video, the man who acted as a patient on whom the surgery was being performed was seen sitting up «post-operation». The video also showed people with cameras and lights present in the operation theatre for the pre-wedding shoot. As per reports, the incident happened at Bharamasagar Government Hospital in Chitradurga district. It was later revealed that the doctor, identified as Dr Abhishek, was a contractual doctor at the hospital in Chitradurga.

Indian-origin executive died in the US, days after he was assaulted during an altercation outside a restaurant in downtown Washington. According to investigators, officers responded to the 1100 block of 15th Street Northwest outside Shoto Restaurant around 2 am for an assault on February 2. Once officers arrived, they found Vivek Taneja on the pavement. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation found that Taneja and an unknown man were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical, WUSA, a television station in Washington, DC, affiliated with CBS, said. Taneja was knocked to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He died from his injuries at the hospital on Wednesday. Police are now investigating Taneja's death as a homicide.

Haldwani | New Delhi | Lucknow: Six people were killed in the violence that broke out over the demolition of an «illegally built» madrasa, officials said on Friday as curfew remained enforced in Uttarakhand's Haldwani town. Seven people, including a journalist, were under treatment at three different hospitals. Three of them were said to be in a serious condition. Others had been discharged. A day after violence in Banbhoolpura locality of Haldwani town, the administration started examining the video footage captured by CCTVs to identify the miscreants who attacked the administration team, including cops. On Thursday, a district administration team went to Banbhoolpura locality to remove encroachments from government lands. The team demolished illegal structures, including a madrasa. Miscreants attacked the policemen and government officials, besides destroying several vehicles parked outside the police station, the officials said, adding they not only pelted stones and lobbed patrol bombs, but also attacked the police station in the area. Several vehicles, parked outside the police station, were set on fire.
