What should investors do with Paytm stock? Deven Choksey answers
«As I see it, many of these companies probably may demand some amount of inclusion into the smallcap index, but I would feel that here the time is a little bit more watchful, careful,» says Deven Choksey, MD, DRChoksey FinServ Pvt. Ltd. Did you manage to glance through the list of smallcap additions in MSCI? I mean, it may just be called smallcap, but these are biggish companies. Anything which catches your attention? Well, I have not gone through the complete list, but I believe that some of these companies have already had a good run-up and I probably may not want to name the companies with a valuation, but I feel that they have been entered into the mainframe list of MSCI, but they have had their own share of run-up in the market.

The strategy behind the budget is embedded in its fine details
₹17,000 crore against the budgeted ₹19,000 crore, the next year will see it further slashed to ₹12,000 crore. The big inclusion in the interim budget for 2024-25 is ₹205,250 crore for free foodgrains. The pre-poll strategy of displaying fiscal restraint while continuing with handouts was made inevitable by the repeated economic shocks to the rural economy: demonetization, the covid pandemic and an inflationary surge over the past 18 months, all of which have resulted in suppressed rural incomes and demand.

India should be 'atmanirbhar' in all aspects: Principal Secretary PK Mishra to PM Modi
India should go beyond achieving the desired level of per capita income and be 'atmanirbhar' in all aspects, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra said on Saturday. Speaking at the 56th annual conference of the Odisha Economic Association at Sambalpur, he also stressed on sustainable growth while achieving high growth trajectory to become a developed nation by 2047. «High growth that is not sustainable will not be meaningful,» Mishra said. «India should go beyond achieving the desired level of per capita income and be 'atmanirbhar' (self-reliant) in all aspects. Women will be leading India's development story, the economy will be more inclusive and innovative, and corruption, casteism and communalism will have no place in our national life,» he said. Congress govt in Gujarat included PM Modi's caste in OBC list in 1994: Amit Shah
Amit Shah on Saturday said it is very unfortunate that there is a debate on the caste of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has a habit of telling lies publicly and repeating those thereafter. Shah also said it was a Congress government in Gujarat that included Modi's caste in the list of Other Backward Classes (OBC) in 1994 and the Centre included the prime minister's caste in its OBC list in 2000. «Modi's caste was listed in Gujarat as OBC on July 25, 1994. At that time, the chief minister of Gujarat was Chhabildas Mehta and the party in power was the Congress. Till that time, Modi had not contested a single election. He used to work for the organisation only. The question of his caste did not come at all. »Subsequently, the Gujarat government recommended for the inclusion of his caste in the central OBC list. It was finally included in the central OBC list in 2000. At that time also, Modi was not in a position of power — not an MP, not an MLA nor even a sarpanch. He became the chief minister in 2001. These people have a habit of distorting facts," Shah said at the ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024 here.
