Congress alleging that unauthorised political advertisements are still being displayed in many places across the country. On 16 March, the Election Commission of India has declared the dates for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into place, which bars any political advertisement from being displayed till the results are declared on 4 June. “The Election Commission of India has taken serious note of the non-compliance/partial compliance of its instructions and hereby directs all State/UT Governments to immediately remove all unauthorised political advertisements and ensure full compliance with its aforesaid instructions", the ECI said.

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) on Wednesday said it terminated services of Yogesh Garg against whom a confirmatory order issued by capital market regulator Sebi in front-running trades case. Front-running refers to an illegal practice in the stock market where an entity trades based on advanced information from a broker or analyst before the information has been made available to its clients. Sebi on Tuesday confirmed a securities market ban on five entities, including an employee of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), in a case pertaining to front-running trades of the state-owned insurer.

Fintech firms disburse 2.5 crore loans in Q3, FACE reports
loans during the third quarter of the fiscal, an increase of 12% compared to a year ago and a marginal degrowth over the previous quarter, (Fintech Association for Consumer Empowerment) FACE said. Disbursement value increased 46% to reach Rs 33,922 crore. The association said average ticket size for loans disbursed at Rs 11,945. Based on responses from 28 NBFCs, 80% were profitable in the first three quarters of FY23, as opposed to 68% in FY 22-23, said the report. Fintech Association for Consumer Empowerment (FACE) is an industry body that tracks the progress of digital loans. The report also said that women account for 12% of the loans disbursed and their participation in leadership roles is less.

Aster DM Healthcare on Wednesday said that the separation of its Indian and Gulf (GCC) businesses, and the proposed investment in its GCC business by an investor group led by UAE-based PE firm Fajr Capital, is in the final stage of completion. Aster DM in November last year had agreed to sell a majority stake in its Gulf business to a consortium led by Fajr Capital for $1 billion. Under the separation plan, a Fajr Capital-led consortium entered into a definitive agreement to acquire a 65% stake in the company’s GCC business. The plan was approved by the company’s shareholders in January 2024.

investigation into US claims of an attempted murder of a Sikh leader in New York found that rogue operatives not authorized by the government had been involved in the plot, according to senior officials familiar with the matter. At least one person directly involved in the alleged attempted assassination is no longer working for India’s main spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing, the officials said, asking not to be identified because the details of the investigation haven’t been made public. Vehicle licence plates in Delhi to be scanned at petrol pumps for PUCC validity
petrol pumps for PUCC validity with the Delhi government planning to implement a digital solution for the issue. The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) has floated a tender and invited bidders to suggest digital solutions to check whether the vehicles coming to the petrol pumps have a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). The estimated cost of the project is Rs 6 crore. «The bidder must possess the capability to deliver a digital solution aimed at mitigating pollution within the city of Delhi. This involves implementing an application that integrates with existing cameras situated at petrol pumps,» said an official. Explaining how the system will work, the official said it will be designed to scan the licence plates of the vehicles upon entry to a petrol pump.
