FMCG sector needs to reignite volume expansion and embrace strategic innovation to maintain growth, Pidilite Managing Director Bharat Puri said on Wednesday amid the FMCG companies reportedly facing subdued growth during October and November hit by the slowdown in urban demand. «To maintain growth, the FMCG sector must focus on reigniting volume growth and embracing strategic innovation. Companies have shown that market outperformance is possible through product and distribution innovation,» said Puri at a Summit on the FMCG sector hosted by the CII here. Noting that modern trade and quick-commerce channels are thriving, offering new growth avenues, he said insurgent brands are capturing significant growth by winning the hearts of underserved customers. «To stay competitive, companies must innovate, invest in digital capabilities, and adopt entrepreneurial operating models, while maintaining robust data strategies for personalized engagement,» Puri, who is also the chairman of the CII, FMCG National Committee, added.

GMR Group which manages the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here may consider adding another terminal and second runway once the passenger traffic hits 45 million annually, a senior official of the airport infra major said on Wednesday. SGK Kishore, Executive Director and Chief Innovation Officer of GMR Airports, at a press conference exuded confidence that the passenger traffic would hit 45 million (annually) by 2030 from the existing 30 million and said the ultimate of the airport would be 100 million passengers. «We are expecting 45 million (per annum) by 2030. It is only an estimate and anything can happen. Based on the projections and based on what we have seen, we have to be proactive. We have started the planning (for the capacity expansion),» he said. The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd has already created the necessary infrastructure in a phased manner to handle 34 million passengers. The aerodrome was built in 2008 with a capacity of 12 million. Currently, the airport has one integrated terminal.

East Ocyon Bio, an allogeneic Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT) startup, on Wednesday, announced the closure of its $4.2 million seed round. The investment round was led by Aeravti Ventures and Micro Labs. The newly raised funds will be utilised to enable several initiatives like pre-clinical testing of CAR-NK and CAR-gamma delta T cell therapies, the creation of a GMP manufacturing facility, and Phase I clinical trials. renewable energy capacity by 2030, the state government aims to contribute 125 GW capacity from non-fossil sources in this endeavour, Rajasthan Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said on Tuesday. A country session on Germany, with a focus on renewable energy, was organised on the second day of the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024. The session titled 'Indo-German Cooperation in Renewable Energy Sector: Current Initiatives and Future Opportunities' showcased Germany's leadership in renewable energy innovations. In his address, Patel said, «Driven by the Prime Minister's vision of creating 500 GW capacity of renewable energy by 2030, Rajasthan is leading in this endeavour with the target of contributing 125 GW capacity by 2030».

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), aims to promote innovation and agri-entrepreneurship, by providing financial and technical support for nurturing startups. Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary, in his written reply to the Lok Sabha, said a financial assistance of Rs 122.50 crore has been released to 1,708 agri startups from 2019-20 to 2023-24. The funds were released through five Knowledge Partners (KPs) and 24 RKVY Agribusiness Incubators (R-ABIs) that provide training and incubate startups for implementation of this programme.
