I know system aligned against lower castes as my grandmother, father were PM: Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that the system is heavily aligned against the lower castes and that he knows the system from inside as his grandmother and father were prime minister and later he used to visit the PM's house when Manmohan Singh lived there. He asserted that the country's 90 per cent population including the Dalits, OBCs, tribal communities and the minorities does not have representation in the country's narrative and power structure. Gandhi said his party aims to ensure the participation of the country's 90 per cent population in the country's progress. Addressing an event in Panchkula this evening, Gandhi took a swipe at the BJP, saying the saffron party's «end» is coming.

Sip, savour, soothe: Unique regional summer drinks of India
variyali sharbat. This summer drink from the state of Gujarat—made from just two ingredients saunf soaked overnight (fennel seeds) ground up with khaadi saakar (rock sugar candy) in a stone mortar and pestle, then strained and diluted with water—was something Diwekar claimed is not just a cool aid for summer. Hand grinding in a stone mortar pestle is an important step because it's a cold grind to preserve the aromas and essential oils of the spices as opposed to the grinding them in a mixer which heats up affecting the delicate essence.

Police seized CCTV DVR from Kejriwal home, planting stories to tarnish party's image: AAP
AAP on Sunday said the Delhi Police has seized the DVR of CCTV cameras installed inside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in connection with its probe into the "assault" on Swati Maliwal and accused the cops of planting stories to tarnish the party's image ahead of the elections. There was no immediate reaction from the Delhi Police. Maliwal, an AAP Rajya Sabha member, has alleged that Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar assaulted her on May 13 when she had gone to the chief minister's residence to meet him. AAP has rubbished her allegations and claimed that Maliwal is acting at the behest of the BJP to frame Kejriwal. Kumar was arrested on Saturday and produced in a court, which remanded him in five-day police custody.

Nobel prize for literature in 2013, she became the first person to receive the honour exclusively for short stories, and one of the very few laureates, I feel, who were easy to read and a delight. Her common analysis of herself as a writer was that she was a woman who was primarily interested in the lives of women and what women experienced. The result was not always compassion for women; but also something sterner, something more useful.

Scores of Israelis have organized protests against the delivery of humanitarian aid into the strip throughout the war, including at a southern border crossing with Israel where trucks were entering Gaza. But more recent protests have turned violent, with instances of truck drivers getting attacked.
