Gen Z’s impatience for trends, demand for constant newness reshaping fashion industry: Thimblerr cofounder Piyush Jalan
Piyush Jalan, cofounder of Thimblerr, said that Gen Z’s impatience for trends and demand for constant newness is reshaping the fashion industry in India. This shift is triggering a supply chain revolution. As a result, traditional seasonal cycles are dead and brands are now launching 12 to 24 micro-collections a year to keep up. “The frequency of purchase among Gen Z is very high, and their patience for waiting six months to see international trends reach India has completely disappeared. They want what’s trending globally—right now. This is pushing brands to launch products faster and offer a wider variety tailored to Gen Z’s preferences.” Jalan said.

US disbands immigration helpdesk that aided H-1B and green card applicants
H-1B visa holders, international students on F-1 visas, and green card applicants — with many from the Indian diaspora. The Ombudsman’s office handled nearly 30,000 requests last year, offering help with delays, errors, and application disputes, according to the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Immigration attorneys say the closure will reduce transparency and accountability within the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). “Individuals or businesses sought assistance from the CIS Ombudsman for a variety of issues, ranging from erroneous rejections of filings and denials to typographical errors on secure documents (such as Green Cards and Employment Authorization Documents) and even mailing issues. Last year, the Ombudsman’s office assisted approximately 30,000 applicants,” Sharvari Dalal-Dheini, senior director for government relations at AILA, told TOI's Lubna Kably.

Honda to test renewable tech in space soon
Honda will partner with US companies to test in orbit a renewable energy technology it hopes to one day deploy on the Moon's surface, the Japanese carmaker announced Friday. The auto giant is developing a mechanism capable of generating electricity and oxygen continuously — enabling astronauts to breathe — thanks to solar energy and water known to be present in some lunar soils. Now it plans to test this technology aboard the International Space Station, it said in a release, without giving a date. Honda already employs the system in its electric vehicles, and now wants to extend it to space to «to support life in space and on Earth.» «During the Lunar Day, the system will use electricity generated by the sun to power the process. Honda's high-differential pressure water electrolysis system will then produce hydrogen and oxygen from water,» it explained.

EVs turn big favourites with some dog owners
«The 'Pet Comfort' (feature) was a huge part of our decision,» Sjostrom says from his station on the outskirts of Minneapolis. «Now, I don't leave here without bringing her with me.» Almost all EVs now have some form of climate control that can be programmed to run when the machine is parked and driverless, another feature electric models can offer that internal combustion ones can't, like a front trunk or fueling at home. The temperature setting, which carmakers have been marketing for years, is now drawing a wide and specific demographic: the devoted dog owner. Lucid Group calls its feature «creature comfort mode,» which «has without a doubt been a great sales tool,» says spokesman Justin Berkowitz.

Tanker barred from India transferring its Russian oil at sea, sources say
The Andaman Skies is transferring its cargo of crude oil to the Sao Tome and Principe-flagged vessel Ozanno, the sources said. While many buyers have shunned Russian oil since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, India and China have remained keen buyers. India is the biggest buyer of seaborne Russian crude, which accounted for about 35% of its crude imports in 2024. However, port authorities last week barred the more than 20-year-old Andaman Skies from entering India's port of Vadinar as its seaworthiness certificate was not issued by an Indian-approved classification agency. The Tanzania-flagged vessel, carrying about 100,000 metric tons (or some 800,000 barrels) of Varandey Russian oil sold by Lukoil from the northern port of Murmansk, is sitting off the port of Mumbai in western India, LSEG shipping data shows.

How IndusInd's push for profits and lax controls drove it to a crisis
IndusInd Bank ignored established Indian derivative accounting practices for years as it chased profit growth, resulting in a $175 million balance-sheet hole and the biggest crisis for the lender in its three-decade history, multiple sources said. Still, the 2.35% shortfall in the net worth of India's fifth-biggest private sector lender may not have come to light last month had the rupee not sharply slumped recently, said the sources. IndusInd disclosed in March accounting discrepancies in its derivatives portfolio whose impact roughly equated to an entire quarter's profits and sparked the loss of about one-fourth of its market value.

Sacked envoy Phil Goff defends questioning Donald Trump's historical understanding
Phil Goff, New Zealand's former High Commissioner to the UK, sacked for publicly questioning US President Donald Trump's understanding of history, has defended his comments. Goff stated his comments were prompted by the US President's «disgraceful bullying» of Ukraine and its president Volodymyr Zelensky, and the «untruthful statements» made by the Trump administration about Russia’s invasion. New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters moved quickly to dismiss Goff, stating his position had become “untenable.” Goff, however, maintains he has no regrets and believes his actions will be viewed favorably in the future. Goff made the first comments about Trump during a live-streamed Q&A event with Finland Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen on March 4. Referring to Winston Churchill’s 1938 speech to the House of Commons following the Munich Agreement, asking Valtonen, “President Trump has restored the bust of Churchill to the Oval Office. But do you think he really understands history?” This question, according to Goff, arose from the “dismay” shared within the diplomatic community in London regarding Trump's stance on Ukraine. “As one untruthful statement followed another like something out of an Orwell novel, I increasingly felt that the lies needed to be called out," he had said.
