Korean Air has announced its compliance with aviation regulations by introducing passenger and carry-on luggage weight checks during the boarding process for both domestic and international flights. The airline's plan involves applying a standardized weight measurement to passengers, inclusive of their carry-on bags. Passengers who choose not to participate in these weight measurements can easily communicate their decision to the airline staff during the boarding process. While the weight standards were determined at 81 kg for adult males and 69 kg for adult females in a local 2017 survey, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prescribes slightly higher figures of 88.4 kg for adult males and 70.3 kg for adult females.
