In a related development, the Rajkot collector said that the DNA samples of all the victims have been matched with their relatives. The Special Investigation Team chief Subhash Trivedi spoke to the media after Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi met the SIT members in Gandhinagar and reviewed the progress in the probe. «We have been instructed to probe the roles of officers associated with Rajkot Municipal Corporation, fire department, police and power utility firm and take stern action if they are found guilty,» said Trivedi.

Gujarat police have arrested one more partner of the Rajkot-based TRP game zone where a devastating fire last week killed 27 persons, an official said on Tuesday. Dhaval Thakkar, the proprietor of Dhaval Corporation, which ran the TRP game zone along with five partners of Raceway Enterprises, was arrested from Abu Road in neighbouring Rajasthan, Banaskantha Superintendent of Police Akshayraj Makwana said. With this, four persons have so far been arrested in connection with the fire incident at the game zone on Saturday. «Thakkar was arrested from Abu Road in a joint operation carried out by the Rajkot and Banaskantha police last night,» Makwana said.

Ajit Pawar, one MLA and one state minister from his faction of the NCP are under fire over allegations that they «interfered» with the police case against the drunk minor son of a Pune builder who killed two people with his car on May 19. Ajit Pawar is alleged to have made a call to the Pune Police Commissioner to go «soft» on the minor son of Vishal Agarwal after his arrest for running his car over two people, killing them on the spot. Responding to the allegations, Ajit Pawar, who is also the Guardian Minister of Pune, did not deny making the call to the police commissioner but claimed that it was only to ensure that the police did not succumb to pressure as the son of a «rich person» was involved. «If any such incident happens and if you are the guardian minister, then one would call up the police commissioner. So, I told him (Pune Police commissioner) to not succumb to any pressure as a rich person's family was involved. There was a possibility of different kinds of pressure on police,» said Pawar.
