Following orders from Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on Saturday to investigate the crime and submit a report within seven days. Prajapati targeted girls eligible for SC/ST scholarships. Using the app, he masked his voice and pretended to be "Archana Madam," asking the victims to meet 'her' to resolve issues with their scholarship applications. After assaulting them, he stole their cell phones to prevent them from seeking help. As per a TOI report, the police so far have recovered 16 phones, but have only received complaints from four survivors.
