Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the Congress saying the opposition was busy with corruption and that the party jeopardised the security of the country by neglecting the development of border villages. Addressing public meetings in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the PM said he considered the entire northeast his family and that is why his government is focussing on the projects that have been lying pending for years. Modi was on a two-day visit to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier today, he inaugurated the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, and said the Congress would have taken 20 years to do the kind of development work which was executed by his government in the last five years. Modi addressed the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Northeast' Programme in Itanagar and said, «When the Congress government was supposed to build modern infrastructure near the borders, they were busy with corruption and kept our borders and villages underdeveloped, thereby jeopardising the security of the country. To keep our armed forces weak and deprive people of the necessities is the way of functioning of the Congress.» He added, «Entire northeast can witness the meaning of 'Modi ki guarantee' with the development works being done here.»

Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled projects worth Rs 55,600 crore in the Northeast, including the strategic Sela tunnel which will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. The PM unveiled the projects spread across Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh at a programme in Itanagar. The Sela tunnel, constructed at a cost of about Rs 825 crore, is an engineering marvel. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang across Sela pass on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang Road in Arunachal Pradesh, a statement said. The project, the foundation stone of which was laid by PM Modi in February 2019, will not only provide a faster and more efficient transport route in the region but is of strategic importance to the country as it is located near the frontier with China.

Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam. It was his first visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In his two-hours long trip, PM Modi enjoyed elephant and jeep safaris in the park. Modi first undertook the elephant safari in Mihimukh area of the central Kohora range of the park.

Indian Navy next week when it inducts the aerial marvel, the MH 60R helicopter into its fleet, bolstering the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will commission the newly inducted MH 60R Seahawk multi-role helicopter at the INS Garuda here on March 6, Navy officials said. The squadron will be commissioned in the Indian Navy as INAS 334, under the Command of Captain M Abhisheik Ram. The Indian government signed a deal with the United States of America in February 2020, to acquire 24 fourth-generation MH 60R helicopters. Six of them have been delivered to the Indian Navy so far.
