Techie making Rs 30 LPA always chooses trains over flights. The strange story behind it
Chirag Deshmukh on X presents an intriguing perspective. Chirag, a freelance web developer, recounted a chance encounter he had on a train with another software developer. The techie, who worked at a prestigious company and earned a handsome salary of over ₹30 lakh per annum, had an interesting reason for choosing the railway over the runway. During their conversation, Chirag couldn’t help but ask, “With that kind of money, why aren't you flying instead of taking the train?” The developer’s response was both surprising and heartwarming. He shared that after completing his education, he struggled to find a job, facing the uncertainty that many fresh graduates experience. However, during a train journey, he met a stranger whose elder brother provided a referral that led to his first job.

Hamas pushes back against US, says It wants Gaza ceasefire
Hamas said it was «keen» on reaching a cease-fire agreement with Israel, denying what it said were US claims it is stalling negotiations to end the devastating conflict in Gaza. The Palestinian militant group Tuesday said remarks by US President Joe Biden and his top diplomat, Antony Blinken, were «misleading and don't reflect the reality of the movement's position.» The comments came a day after Blinken met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said the next step toward a truce is for «Hamas to say yes.» Blinken said Netanyahu had accepted a proposal the US is calling a «bridging agreement» to tide the sides over until they iron out the final details. Hamas said the proposal was different from a Biden-led plan unveiled in May, suggesting they are unhappy with Israel's latest demands. The two sides are meant to start a new round of negotiations in Cairo this week, but no date's been set for that yet. Egypt is mediating, along with the US and Qatar.

India has to grapple with 'some serious issues' affecting religious sentiments, but it continues to play its rightful role: Malaysian PM
Anwar Ibrahim, who is on a state visit to India, stated on Tuesday that India has to grapple with some 'serious issues' concerning minorities and religious sentiments but it continues to play its rightful role. Ibrahim said, «I will not deny the fact that you also have to grapple with some serious issues affecting minorities or religious sentiments. But our hope is that India continues to play its role, rightful role because I mentioned to Prime Minister Modi, that these were the years when Nehru and Zhou Enlai and Sukarno and Nyerere were there standing up for the global south against colonialism and imperialism and to struggle to ensure that we recognize what humanity is about, what freedom is all about, and what dignity of men and women.» The Malaysian PM, who met with Prime Minister Modi earlier in the day, praised India, noting its remarkable intellectual and historical figures. «India has produced outstanding intellects such as Sri Aurobindo and leaders like Gandhi Ji, who played a unique role in the struggle for freedom, justice, and humanity,» he said. «You have intellectual giants who became leaders in their own countries, such as Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammed Ali Jinnah. India has produced great sages and leaders and is regarded by many of us as a beacon of hope and democracy in the region.

Jharkhand CM accuses BJP of poaching MLAs amid speculation of Champai Soren switching sides

They poach MLAs. Money is such a thing that it doesn't take long for politicians to move here and there,» he said.

It's hurting shooters: Jaspal Rana slams NRAI for inconsistent selection policy
shooter Manu Bhaker's coach Jaspal Rana has slammed the national federation's «ever-changing» Olympic selection policy, saying that it has hurt some of the most promising talents in the past and will damage more youngsters if there is no consistency going forward. Rana, a pistol legend in his own right who won three Asiad gold medals in the 2006 edition, hardly minced words as he questioned the federation's tendency to make last-minute changes to its policy, and its stubborn refusal to acknowledge or facilitate the presence of shooters' personal coaches at national camps and trials. He made these observations during a visit to PTI headquarters with Bhaker, who won bronze medals in 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed team (alongside Sarabjot Singh), for an interaction with its editors on Friday. «The (federation's) selection policy changes every six months. I met the sports minister and told him 'get the selection policy from the federation. Let them decide… whatever they decide, right or wrong, we are not discussing that, and then stick to it'.
