Brookfield has proposed to put over 50,000 crore in renewable energy over three to five years in Andhra Pradesh, potentially the largest overseas investment in the sector.
The company, through its Evren platform, plans to add 8.66 gigawatts (GW) of wind and solar power projects, people aware of the development told ET. Senior executives from Brookfield, which manages renewable assets worth $102 billion globally, met Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday. “Met with managing director of Brookfield’s renewable power and transition group, Mr Nawal Saini… Brookfield has expressed a keen interest in investing in our state's renewable energy sector, particularly in solar, wind, and rooftop energy,” Naidu posted on X.

Of the total solar capacity addition target, it is looking to add almost 1.4 GW of solar capacity by 2026, another 828 megawatts (MW) in 2027 and 1.3 GW thereafter. In the wind sector, it will add 1.64 GW in 2026, 204 MW in 2027 and 3.3 GW thereafter.
The total planned solar and wind capacity proposed in the state is nearly 9 GW. Andhra Pradesh is one of the top eight in terms of wind energy potential—74.9 GW at 120 metres above ground level and 123 GW at 150 metres above ground level. As of July 31, the state’s installed wind energy
