₹10 lakh in the western suburb of Jogeshwari here, an official said on Sunday. According to details, quoted by Hindustan Times and news agency PTI, the head of the crime branch unit 10 – Inspector Deepak Sawant – donned the uniform of a food delivery agent to apprehend the accused in the SV Road area in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The accused, identified as Faisal Akbar Makhanoja, was nabbed by Sawant and his team after a chase.

Vivo India Hong Xuquan alias Terry, a Chinese national, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Harinder Dahiya and consultant Hemant Munjal were earlier arrested by Enforcement Directorate under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The executives were arrested in connection with its money laundering probe against the Chinese smartphone maker and some others. The federal agency had earlier made four arrests in the case which included mobile company Lava International's MD Hari Om Rai, Chinese national Guangwen alias Andrew Kuang and chartered accountants Nitin Garg and Rajan Malik.

Scotch whisky and electric vehicles and mobility of skilled workers are yet to be resolved in the proposed trade pact between India and the UK, and are likely to be taken up in the next round of talks in January, an official said on Friday. India is also considering discussing longer transition period and tax restoration for its exporters once the UK's carbon border tax on imported goods kicks in from 2027, as part of the trade pact. Yet, New Delhi remains hopeful of closing three trade pacts — with the UK, Oman and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) — early next year, the official said. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland comprise the EFTA. In the negotiations with the UK, the two sides have resolved most of the issues related to rules of origin and intellectual property rights chapters, the official said. The pact has 26 chapters. The UK's demand for liberalisation of norms in services sectors like banking, insurance, and legal, and India's ask for easy movement of professionals are some of the unresolved issues.

During the Q2 earnings call, Vi’s chief executive Akshaya Moondra told analysts that the telco expected to conclude its discussions relating to (funding from potential) equity investors in this quarter (Q3FY24). He had added that Vi’s talks with banks had already happened and that the current focus is on tying up the equity investment, basis which the banks would process the telco’s requests for bank funding. Shares of Vi jumped 21% to close at Rs 16.02% on BSE Friday.
