Niantic Labs, the company behind the popular game Pokémon Go, is selling its video game division to Scopely, a mobile game developer owned by Saudi Arabia, for $3.5 billion. As part of the deal, Niantic is transferring ownership of several of its mobile gaming titles, including Pokémon Go, Monster Hunter Now, and Pikmin Bloom, to Scopely. Niantic has faced challenges trying to recreate the success of Pokémon Go with its other augmented reality (AR) games.

Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel were the only telecom operators to see net subscriber additions in December, while state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and cash-strapped Vodafone Idea (Vi) continued losing subscribers, showed data issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday. Jio added 3.9 million customers in December, while Bharti Airtel reversed its trend of customer loss to add 1.03 million wireless subscribers, the data showed. In the same period, Vi lost 1.7 million users, while BSNL's subscriber base declined by 0.32 million (320,000) after three straight months of subscriber additions till October after tariff hikes by private telcos.

Before the end of this month (i.e., before March 31, 2025), all UPI banks and PSPs (payment service providers) will have to update their database with regards to recycled, or churned, numbers, to “reduce the chances of errors due to churned mobile numbers,” per a recent NPCI circular dated March 2025. Moreover, this will not be a one-off updation process. As the circular further notes, NPCI requires its member apps and banks to at least bring their mobile number databases up to date at least once a week, so that recycled, or churned-out, numbers are identified and weeded out more frequently. For this purpose, “the Banks, PSP apps shall use the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL)/Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP),” the circular adds.

Uber on Tuesday said it has tied up with Refex Green Mobility to deploy 1,000 electric vehicles across key cities by 2026, furthering its efforts to boost electric vehicles on its platform. The collaboration aligns with Uber's global objective of providing 100 per cent emission-free rides by 2040, the company said in a statement. The deployment will see electric four-wheelers onboarded onto the Uber platform across Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, it added. «Uber is committed to accelerating the shift to zero-emission mobility in India, and this partnership with Refex eVeelz is a significant step in that direction,» said Aditya Kapoor, Head, Supply and Electrification, Uber India and South Asia.

Maharashtra following the state government decision to levy 6% motor vehicle tax, said executives at luxury car makers. As part of the budget proposal for FY26, the Maharashtra government will levy a 6% motor vehicle tax on EVs priced above Rs 30 lakh. Currently, all EVs sold in Maharashtra are exempt from motor vehicle tax. Additionally, the government raised the motor vehicle tax by 1 percentage point on individual-owned non-transport four-wheeler CNG and LPG vehicles. Depending on the vehicle type and price, such vehicles currently attract 7% to 9% tax.
