Uttam Sugar Mills(down 1.18%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 1.04%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 0.95%), EID Parry(down 0.76%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 0.59%), AVADHSUGAR(down 0.59%), MAGADHSUGAR(down 0.33%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 0.21%) and K.M.Sugar Mills(down 0.19%) were among the top losers.

Macrotech Developers(up 0.72 per cent) were among the top gainers. DLF(down 3.7 per cent), Oberoi Realty(down 2.57 per cent), Godrej Properties(down 2.53 per cent), SOBHA(down 2.23 per cent) and Mahindra Lifespace Developers(down 1.61 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

Given the high institutional holding, IT stocks tend to have a very strong and long phase of directional movement. After remaining under pressure for a long time, IT stocks had seen an up move post TCS results.

Varun Beverages Ltd. rose 0.07 per cent to Rs 804.85 in Tuesday's trade as of 11:31AM (IST) even as the benchmark Nifty ruled at 19740.25, down 13.55 points. The scrip had closed at Rs 804.3 in the previous session.

Ambuja Cements Ltd. slipped 1.27 per cent to Rs 456.9 in Tuesday's trade as of 10:40AM (IST). The stock hit a high price of Rs 468.0 and low of Rs 454.1 during the session.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty fell 31.7 points to 19722.1, while the BSE Sensex traded 89.47 points down at 66438.2. On the other hand, Jeena Sikho Lifecare, Orient Green Pwr, KIOCL, Dilip Buildcon and IFGL Refractories stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today.

Tata Power Company Ltd. traded 2.41 per cent up in Tuesday's trade at 10:05AM (IST). Around 856,921 shares changed hands on the counter.

Bandhan Bank(up 1.84 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 1.43 per cent), HDFC Bank(up 0.39 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.16 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.05 per cent) were among the top gainers. IndusInd Bank(down 0.52 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 0.35 per cent), Federal Bank(down 0.22 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.19 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 0.17 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 35.4 points to 19789.2 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks. However, stocks such as SMVD Poly Pack, Advitiya Trade India, Jalan Transolutions, Viji Finance and UPL, touched their fresh 52-week low.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) set its foot on the gas pedal with a two-fold year-on-year jump in its net profit, the EBITDA miss acted as an unwanted speed breaker, inviting a 'Sell' recommendation from CLSA. The stock on Tuesday fell by 1.4% on NSE to the day's low of Rs 9,680.50 and was one of the worst performers in the Nifty pack in the opening trade. Notwithstanding the miss, domestic brokerages remain gung-ho about the prospects of the country's bellwether carmaker and expect a market share gain, going ahead.

Ipca Laboratories(up 2.0 per cent), Laurus(up 1.15 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences(up 1.14 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.08 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(up 0.8 per cent) were among the top gainers. Natco Pharma(down 0.84 per cent), Abbott India(down 0.12 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 0.04 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
