As per provisions of BNSS, the fact as to who has been informed about the arrest shall be recorded in a police station register in such form as the state government may provide. «Provision has also been made to enable the medical practitioner conducting medical examination of an arrested person to conduct one more examination if such practitioner deems it fit. Clause 58 of BNSS says that an arrestee may be produced before a magistrate within the first 24 hours of arrest even if such magistrate does not have jurisdiction,» said an official.

CBI has registered a corruption case against former chairman and managing director of Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd (HECL) Avijit Ghosh, officials said on Monday. Ghosh has been booked for alleged irregularities in setting up a centre of excellence for skill development in collaboration with CNIITMASH, a joint stock company of Russia, they said. The agency has alleged that Ghosh and others entered into a criminal conspiracy with CNIITMASH during 2015-19 with intention to cheat government exchequer by floating manipulated Expression of Interest. The CBI, which registered an FIR under IPC section of criminal conspiracy and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act after a year-long preliminary enquiry, said that the Centre had launched a scheme in November 2014 with an objective to boost Indian economy by making the Indian Capital Goods Sector globally competitive.

Hathras, Aligarh Inspector General (IG) Shalabh Mathur on Thursday confirmed the arrest of six individuals connected to the incident. DGCA has come out with safety standards for ground handling service providers at airports, including the compulsory safety clearance requirement, as part of efforts to ensure safe ground operations amid rising air traffic. The norms also come against the backdrop of ground incidents at some airports that have resulted in damage to aircraft. The new Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR), prepared after detailed consultations, will strengthen the oversight mechanism, DGCA said in a release on Wednesday.
