Assam CM's wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma files Rs 10 crore defamation case against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi
Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, the wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and chairperson and Managing Director of Pride East has filed a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. Gogoi had sent a letter to Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal seeking to know if the Pride East Entertainment Private Limited has received Rs 10 Crore subsidy the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY). The case has been filed at the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) of Kamrup Metropolitan on Friday and it will be moved on September 26. Senior advocate Devajit Saikia, her counsel said, «My client has claimed a defamation of Rs 10 crore against Gaurav Gogoi for various tweets on X. We have made it very clear that we never made any application to receive subsidy,» he added. Gogoi stated, “ It is apparent from your reply in the Lok Sabha and the list of beneficiaries on the website of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries that Rs 10 Crore has been approved in the name of Pride East Entertainment Private Limited.
