Juniper Green Energy on Monday announced the commissioning of a 100-MW solar power project to supply electricity to Bhutan. The project facilitates an important cross-border agreement, aiming to provide 50 per cent of the power generated to Bhutan during winter months, the company said in a statement. This agreement enables Bhutan to directly import power from an Indian generator under a bilateral trade framework, it said. Naresh Mansukhani, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, said in the statement, «Our first cross-border energy trademarks an important achievement in energy integration. Lok Sabha proceedings were on Monday adjourned for about 30 minutes after DMK members protested over Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's remarks that the Tamil Nadu government was «dishonest» on the issue of implementing the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme. Replying to a question on the PM SHRI scheme, Pradhan said the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has changed its stand on implementing the centrally-sponsored scheme which envisaged strengthening the schools managed by central, state or local bodies. The state concerned has to sign an MoU with the central government that it would implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and in return the central government provides the fund. «The Tamil Nadu government had initially agreed to sign the MoU. But now they have changed the stand. Many non-BJP-ruled states, including Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, have signed the agreement,» he said.

ONGC will be in focus on Monday after its subsidiary ONGC PetroAdditions Ltd (OPaL) decided to relinquish its «only-for-export» status and shift its focus to the rapidly expanding domestic petrochemical market. The company has received final approval to exit the Dahej Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and will now operate as a Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) unit, effective from March 8, 2025. This move will enable OPaL to concentrate primarily on serving the domestic market, instead of exporting products, which was the primary purpose of operating within an SEZ. As a DTA unit, OPaL will be exempt from paying customs duties on products sold within India, which is expected to enhance its profit margins.

ICICI Bank, one of the earliest banks to start withdrawing its ATMs from the AGS Transact network after facing service issues, is close to taking control of its ATMs. The private sector bank has moved out a majority of its ATMs to other ATM service providers like CMS Infosystems and Hitachi India. This essentially means primarily catering to the domestic Indian market instead of focusing on exports, which is the primary purpose of an SEZ unit. It will now not have to pay customs duty on products sold within India, helping improve margins.
