Dalmia Bharat’s profit slumped by three-fifths in the September quarter as weak prices of cement weighed on earnings, even as the cement-maker sold more cement during the quarter as compared to the previous year. The New Delhi-based company clocked in a net profit of Rs 49 crore for the quarter, down more than 60% on year, while income from operations was more than 2% lower at Rs 3,087 crore. Even though it sold 6.7 million tonne of cement during the quarter – over 8% higher as compared to the previous year – earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization fell nearly 27% on year to Rs 434 crore.

Realty firm Nirala World has acquired 2.6 acres of land in Greater Noida for Rs 180 crore to build a commercial project. In a statement on Thursday, the company said it has bought 10,600 square meters of land (2.6 acres) worth Rs 180 crore, including GST, lease rent and stamp duty. The parcel of land is located in the Greater Noida West sector 10 (Plot no C-6). The land was recently acquired through an auction by the Greater Noida Authority. «We have recently acquired a land parcel in Greater Noida West through a tough auction process. On the purchased land, we intend to build a commercial project (a mall or a high street),» Suresh Garg, Chairman and Managing Director of Nirala World, said.

Indian Railways has reduced the time window for advanced booking of seats in passenger trains. According to a circular issued by the Railway Board, time limit for Advance Reservations has been reduced from 120 to 60 days (excluding date of journey). This new diktat will be applicable from November 1 onwards so bookings can be made under the 120-day Advance Reservation Period (ARP) till then. Existing bookings under the earlier ARP will remain intact as well. This reverses a decision taken in March 2015 to increase the window of booking. There will be no change in the case of certain day time express trains like Taj Express, Gomti Express, among others where lower time limits for Advance Reservations are already in place. There will also be no change in the case of limit of 365 days for Foreign Tourists, the order said.
