Elon Musk calls for accountability, says 'FAA should fine Boeing, not SpaceX, for stranding astronauts in Space'
Elon Musk is in conflict with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which recently levied a fine of $633,009 against SpaceX for allegedly violating licensing regulations during two launches in 2023. According to the FAA, SpaceX utilized an unauthorized launch control room during the PSN SATRIA mission on June 18 and failed to conduct a required T-2 hour poll for another mission in May. FAA Chief Counsel Marc Nichols stated, “Safety drives everything we do at the FAA, including a legal responsibility for the safety oversight of companies with commercial space transportation licenses. Failure of a company to comply with the safety requirements will result in consequences."

Mockery of public accountability: Congress slams SEBI over RTI rebuff
SEBI's refusal to disclose instances when its chairperson Madhabi Buch recused herself due to conflict of interest and said that this makes a «mockery» of public accountability and transparency. The cases where Buch recused herself due to potential conflict of interest is not «readily» available and collating them would «disproportionately divert» its resources, the securities market regulator said in an RTI response on Friday. In the response furnished to transparency activist Commodore Lokesh Batra (retd), the regulator also refused to provide copies of Buch's declarations to the government and SEBI Board on the financial assets and equities held by her and her family members on the grounds of these being «personal information» and that their disclosure may «endanger» personal safety. Reacting to the development, Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said, «The multiple conflicts of interest of the SEBI Chairperson that have been revealed so far are shocking in themselves. Now in a move that adds more fuel to the raging fire, SEBI has simply refused to divulge information to a RTI activist on instances of the SEBI Chairperson recusing herself on issues where there have been potential conflicts of interest.»

Why does Shohei Ohtani's 50-50 feat resonate so much in baseball?
Major League Baseball over the past century-and-a-half, none had a season with 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases — until now. Shohei Ohtani became the first 50-50 player on Thursday when the Los Angeles Dodgers star hit his 50th and 51st home runs and stole his 50th and 51st bases. Home runs and steals are among the more popular baseball records — if not the most revered in the history of the game — whether it be most home runs (73) in a season or the modern-day mark for most stolen bases (130) in a season. So when one player reaches the once-unthinkable half-century mark in both, it stands out.

RBI tells banks to take legal recourse in standoff with CBI
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has advised banks to seek legal remedy in case of a stand-off with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over matters classified as fraud. The RBI's advice was in response to the CBI returning complaints filed by some banks to probe accounts tagged as fraud and where they have already filed an FIR (first information report). In several cases, the investigative agency has informed the lender that its complaint has been returned because the borrower concerned has not been given an in-person hearing before the account was classified as fraud.
