Nine Indian fishermen feared dead after trawler capsizes
Indian fishermen are feared dead after their trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal during a storm, an official told AFP on Sunday. The trawler had left from the Sundarbans in West Bengal on Wednesday with 17 men on board, said Surajit Bag, assistant director of fishing in the state government. Eight were on the deck while nine others were asleep in the cabin below when the storm struck early Saturday near Bagher Char island he told AFP.

In a post on X, Pawan Kalyan announced that he will fast for 11 days to seek forgiveness from lord Balaji. «I am deeply hurt on a personal level by the malicious attempts made to infuse impurity in the prasad of Sri Tirupati Balaji Dham, the center of our culture, faith, belief and devotion, and to tell you the truth, I feel cheated from within. Right now, I am taking a vow to seek forgiveness from the Lord and am taking a vow to fast for eleven days. In the latter part of the eleven-day Atonement Initiation, on October 1 and 2, I will go to Tirupati and have a personal darshan of the Lord and beg for forgiveness and then my Atonement Initiation will be completed in front of the Lord,» Pawan Kalyan tweeted on X.

AESL has a diversified portfolio that includes transmission assets, distribution assets, and a smart metering business. «With an enterprise value of USD 18.5 billion, we believe AESL to be a very attractive way to play the rapidly expanding energy markets in India,» global brokerage Cantor Fitzgerald said, initiating coverage of the company. It believes AESL offers growth unlike any other publicly traded utility/energy company across US, Europe, or Asia. «We forecast total revenue to grow at a CAGR of 20 per cent from FY24 to FY27 and adjusted EBITDA to grow at a CAGR of 28.8 per cent.»

In a post on X, the Trinamool Congress' (TMC) leader in the Rajya Sabha said seven out of 10 Bills were sent to department-related standing committees of Parliament in the 15th Lok Sabha while only two out of 10 Bills were sent to the panels in the last Lok Sabha. «Parliamentary standing committees have not yet been formed. In the 15th Lok Sabha, seven out of 10 Bills were sent to committees for scrutiny. In the last Lok Sabha, only two out of 10 Bills got scrutinised ,» O'Brien said. «Parliament is being turned into a deep, dark chamber,» he added.

venture fund set up by former defence secretary Ajay Kumar has raised Rs 400 crore and closed its first deal, with three more deals approaching finalisation. In a first for a former defence secretary of India, Kumar turned an entrepreneur by launching MGF-Kavachh, an alternative investment fund approved by the Securities and Exchange Board of India, in January, following the completion of his mandatory cooling-off period after retirement. «We have so far raised Rs 400 crore with a visibility of reaching Rs 500 crore soon. Our plan is to invest in 30 startups in sectors like defence, space and deep tech,» Kumar told ET in a phone interview from Washington DC, where he is currently on a work trip.
