Freelancer’s guide to the galaxy of danger zones in recruitment platforms
gig economy as freelancers. But one of the biggest challenges is finding the right work. Karthik Sridharan, Co-founder and CEO of Flexiple, a provider of freelance developers and designers, says every freelancer they have interacted with finds generating demand for themselves as the most painful thing to do. So these individuals require guidance around the kind of options available in the market and its benefits. The good news is that recruitment portals are gradually shifting the narrative in favour of self-employed individuals. And, freelancers no longer have to rely only on their physical network or word-of-mouth referrals to land projects. Online portals are playing a crucial role here. Aspiring freelancers only have to understand how to leverage these portals effectively to give a push to their careers.

US Ambassador Garcetti dismisses concerns about democracy in India
Biden administration's top diplomat in New Delhi on Thursday dismissed concerns being raised in certain quarters about democracy in India and observed that in many ways Indians are better than the Americans. At an event organised here by the Council on Foreign Relations, a top American think-tank, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti told the audience he was confident that «10 years from now India is going to be a vibrant democracy as it is today in terms of free and fair elections». «Again there's things that probably are worse and there's things that are better. They have a law, you can't go more than two kilometers to vote. So there''ll be one guy who lives in the mountains as a monk (at) someplace. They will walk for two days to bring the voting machine, execute the vote,» he said, responding to a question expressing concerns over the status of democracy in India.

Maldives and India look to move forward, give direction to ties
foreign minister Moosa Zameer on Thursday indicated the Muizzu government's willingness to work with India amid external affairs minister S Jaishankar's emphasis that bilateral ties were based on mutual interests and reciprocal sensitivity. The two sides, during Jaishankar-Zameer meeting, discussed the state of various India-funded projects in Maldives. Each side presented respective viewpoints on the projects that are developmental in nature and scope, sources informed ET. Zameer's visit to India amid anti-India rhetoric in Maldives is a signal that neighbours are trying to arrive at a working relationship, sources explained. After resounding victory in parliamentary elections, the Muizzu administration may want to set aside rhetoric and work with India, which has been the first responder to crises in Maldives since its independence, sources said.

"My concern is national security, threats emanating from land of Canada": Indian envoy to Canada Sanjay Verma
Canada, Sanjay Kumar Verma has described the relationship between the two countries as having «decade-old issues» that have resurfaced, with unfortunate crimes, and threats emanating from the land of Canada. Speaking at an event in Montreal on Tuesday, the Indian envoy said that «Indians will decide what will happen to India» and not the foreigners. «A lot of discussions at the government level, both sides, is happening and through the diplomatic channels. These channels are not open to the public and they are trying to find solutions and resolutions to the issues of concern on both sides. And the way in which it is moving, I think it will come to both sides to see the virtue of resolving the issues, satisfying the concerns of both sides. My concern is national security, and threats emanating from the land of Canada, these threats are largely emanating from the Canadian citizens...we are ready to sit down on the table any day, and we are doing that. And, we are trying to resolve this issue,» Verma told the Montreal Council on Foreign Relations.
