Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that 'Betty La Fea, the Story Continues,' the sequel to the Colombian telenovela that inspired ABC's 'Ugly Betty,' will premiere on July 19.
Returning Cast Members
The series will see Ana María Orozco reprise her role as Betty alongside Jorge Enrique Abello. Other returning cast members include Julián Arango, Natalia Ramírez, Lorna Cepeda, Luces Velásquez, Marcela Posada, Mario Duarte, Julio Cesar Herrera, Ricardo Vélez, Alberto León Jaramillo, and Estefanía Gómez.
New Additions to Cast
Rodrigo Candamil, Juanita Molin, Zharick León, and Sebastián Osorio will also join the cast of this sequel.
Storyline Set 20 years after the original series, 'Betty La Fea, the Story Continues' follows Betty as she navigates her relationship with her teenage daughter, Mila, while dealing with the challenges in her relationship with Armando, raising questions about her past decisions.
Global Success 'Yo Soy Betty, la Fea,' created by Fernando Gaitán, has been a massive success, airing in 180 countries and dubbed into 15 languages. It has been adapted in 28 territories worldwide, including India, South Africa, and the U.S.
Previous Adaptations
After the original run, RCN produced a sequel series in 2001, which ran for one season. 'Ugly Betty,' the American adaptation, ran for four seasons on ABC, starring America Ferrera. Telemundo also produced its version in 2019, titled 'Betty in NY,' starring Elyfer Torres.
