IBC: Icra says lenders took 72 pc haircut in Q2; breach of timelines resulting in more liquidations
bankruptcy courts, a report said on Wednesday. In over 71 per cent of the cases, the 270-day timeline is getting exceeded, the report by rating agency Icra said, adding that this is resulting in a higher number of liquidation orders as the elongated process erodes value. "'Lenders continue to face steep haircuts or reduction in loan amounts of nearly 72 per cent in Q2 FY2025 as the overall resolution process continues to face material delays emerging from litigations from either promoters or dissenting creditors," the agency's group head for structured finance ratings Abhishek Dafria said. He added that 71 per cent of the ongoing corporate insolvency resolution processes (CIRPs) had exceeded 270 days, post-admission by the NCLT.

32-year-old macro trader leaves $50m hedge fund job with possible clawback risk
John Curtice, the 32-year-old macro trader who joined hedge fund Millennium earlier this year on a package allegedly worth $50m has left again. Bloomberg reports that his apparently inadvertent exit followed a ‘net low single digit loss,’ and claims that Curtice exceeded guidance on his risk limits. However, Bloomberg also says that Curtice’s trades didn’t hit a limit that would actually trigger a stock loss. Instead, the fund is said to have had multiple ‘discussions’ about risk limits with him before he left.

Swiggy IPO lists on exchanges with thin price gains. What this reveals
Swiggy made a muted debut by listing at a small premium of 8% over its issue price. After listing, Swiggy shares jumped 9% to Rs 449 on BSE, with its market capitalization crossing the Rs 1 lakh crore mark. The issue, which opened on November 6, was subscribed 3.6 times the shares on offer driven by institutional investors on the third and final day. Retail investors subscribed to their portion 1.14 times while the portion reserved for employees saw 1.65x bidding. Non-institutional investors, which include corporates and high net worth individuals (HNIs), bid for only 41% of the shares reserved for them. Analysts had anticipated Swiggy's muted debut on the bourses as weakness in the broader market dampened appetite among individual investors for newly-listed companies. The grey market premium — the price in the unofficial market that investors pay for the unlisted shares before listing — was at Rs 2 for Swiggy on Tuesday, a 0.5% premium to the upper price band of Rs 390.
